AnonymousInactivetaking REG tomorrow. been studying with Becker and doing ok on practice tests but not great. I am finding the sims to be “easy” and having a lot of trouble with the MC ?s, which is different from both audit and FAR for me. I just agree with above that theres so many really specific questions its hard to keep it all straight.
Any tips on what/how to better review this afternoon and tomorrow? Thanks for keeping me going!

YoungbizmanMember^^^My best advice having gone through all four sections, just give your mind a break and get a great night sleep! At this point, you know everything you are going to know, so just try to go in relaxed and well rested. I had a tough time getting through REG solely because I stayed up late trying to cram last minute. Which was pointless as we all know these aren't simple memorization tests.

lindseyAUMemberDoes anyone have advice for the research tab? I have heard that it counts for several points so I want to make sure I master it. I have been using Becker and I will occasionally be able to find the section and subsection fairly easy. Other times I struggle to get to the correct topics. Becker's keywords don't always get me to the correct answer.

AnonymousInactiveHey all, first time poster long time lurker. I'm taking my first test next Tuesday the 28th, and it so happens to be REG. I have only studied using the Wiley 2011 review book and the Wiley 2012 Online test bank. I seem to have recently passed a hurdle as I have been consistently getting 75-85% on the practice tests over the past week. If anyone has had any experience with Wiley, do you think these scores are indicative of my level of preparation? Furthermore, are you able to go back to other questions during the actual exam? On the Wiley test bank you are able to “flag” a question to revisit later. I want to know this so I can allocate my test taking time appropriately. Fingers crossed.

I took REG this past Monday and thought that it was very manageable. I used the Yaeger review course along with the Wiley book/test bank. Since you are using the 2011 Wiley book, make sure that you have the 2011 mid-year and the 2012 updates. Also, make sure that you leave enough time for the SIMs. I spent 1.5 hrs on the MCQ's and then 1.5 hrs on the SIMs. You have got to keep moving thru the MCQ's. Better to skip one than lose 5 minutes or more trying to figure it out.
I would keep hitting the MCQ's like crazy between now and the exam time. Also, you can back and forth between questions in a testlet (24 questions) on the exam, but once you exit that testlet you cannot go back. Good idea to flag questions like you mentioned.
Good luck! You can do it.

mfreeman73MemberJust finished FAR today and am now studying for REG. How long do you get for the REG exam? I've seen 3 hours and 3 1/2 hours. Which one is correct? I went into FAR thinking I had 4 1/2 hours only to be surprised to see I only had 4 hours. Don't want to make that mistake again. I'd rather go in knowing exactly how much time I have.
FAR: 84
REG: 78
AUD: 89
BEC: 84February 23, 2012 at 8:51 am #372361
AnonymousInactiveSo…I received my failing score of 74, yesterday. To be honest, I felt that I failed walking out of the exam that I took in Feb- so while it did not come as a shock to me that I failed, it came as a shock that I failed with one point. Seriously, ONE POINT!!!!!
Nonetheless, I had all day yesterday to wallow and grief and today I'm rolling up my sleeves to start again.
The current predicament I find myself in is that I need to get both FAR and REG done by the end of May 2012 but am feeling defeated…
My basic plan is to study REG until I take it first thing in April and to take FAR towards the end of May. Now that I have a basic plan and am preparing to start studying, I need a clear plan on how to retackle REG's materials.
My gut reaction is to do the following:
Rework all of the problems in Becker for tax Week 1
Work all of the problems for Wiley in Tax Week 2.
Rework on all of the problems in Becker for BLAW Week 3.
Work all of the problems for Wiley in BLAW Week 4.
Review and tie it all together Week 5 and 6.
I am reaching out to the another71 community for any advice for this poor soul that needs to be done? I'm currently using the 2011 Becker Software and have the Wiley Test Bank of questions…Is there anything else that I am missing?
Any and all good advice, understanding and encouragement would be welcomed with open arms…

AnonymousInactiveREG is 3 hours, I thought I misread somewhere that it is 3.5 hours. But as someone who just took the exam in February I can assure you it is an intense 3 hours.
Best of luck to you!

AnonymousInactive@ 2BaCPAinGA – I am sorry to hear about you 74. However, you obviously knew the material with that score…your schedule you planned sounds right to me. You just need to reinforce what you know already and do some additional work on your “weaker” area per your score sheet breakdown – Which is my mind is completely useless!
Now to what I believe will be the harder part of this “Double” knockout is having (1) attempt to pass FAR. You prob will have like 7 weeks to study which is doable, but if it were at all possible to study slightly before you take the REG exam again it would prob. help you in the long run. It took me (3) times to pass FAR, now my back was not against the wall. I would use this fact to my advantage here, you are in do or die mode here…time to strap on the helmet and bust your ass. Everything else will fall into place if you give it your all…and only you will know if you did. Best of luck to you…I take REG on Monday if I pass I am done, if I fail I also have (1) last attempt to finish this beast of a exam.
PS: If memory serves, make sure you know governmental and non-profit accounting pretty well for FAR, my first test that I failed was pretty much 35% on those two alone.

thanks… you will do fine… From my experience… You chose a good test to start with… Try to take FAR before AUD though. Many AUD questions will make A LOT more sense if you have FAR fresh…
Good luck…
