Jeff
Have they issued the samples of the new performance analysis reports for 2011? If so, where can I find it? The one on the AICPA site was for the old format.
Thanks!
November 30, 2010 at 9:14 pm #370840AldogParticipantJust took AUD & FAR the week of Nov 15th (BAD idea taking two tests within 3 days of each other…great Friday night though)…Unfortunately I just recieved my BEC & REG materials from Becker in the mail 🙁
Which brings me to my questions…any general advice on which order to study for these tests and/or take them? I plan on spreading them out this time between January and February (or even early/late Feb) in order to avoid the insane stress I was facing a month ago
I just graduated in May and feel like my undergrad knowledge (whatever brain cells werent killed during senior week) was only relevant to AUD & FAR and that these 2 sections will require a little more reading and comprehension time to grasp the overall concepts, etc.
Any help/advice/tips would be awesome as I plan on starting to study very, very soon 🙂
(If anyone has any questions on the other 2 sections feel free to ask…)

I'm doing basically the same thing as you. I took FAR & AUD in this last testing window, and I'm going to take REG & BEC in the next window. What worked for me was studying for one exam, then the other, and not trying to do both at once. I'm starting next Monday on the studying, which gives me 12 weeks before the end of the next window. 4 weeks on BEC, 6 weeks on REG, one week off for Christmas/New Years, and a week of flex time (built in so I can take an extra night off here and there to keep my sanity). My goal is REG by the end of Jan, and BEC at the end of Feb.
FAR - 92 --- AUD - 87 --- REG - 80 --- BEC - 87

December 2, 2010 at 11:42 pm #370845PR_CPA_2BParticipanti'm scheduled for Jan 10.. i've be reading the 2011 wiley book and just today I ordered the yaeger home study w/o the book of course.. used Becker 2 times and ended up with two 74 so I decided to explore with a different source to supplement my studies
I want to get this over with already as this is my last exam.. my goal was to be finished by 2010 but stuff happens
December 3, 2010 at 3:12 pm #370846zooyukaParticipant@PR_CPA_2B I'm in about the same boat as you. I've scored a 73 & 74 with Becker. I am using Yaeger right now to study for my exam.

AUD 8/24/13December 6, 2010 at 2:49 pm #370847AldogParticipantre:FAR study tips: Gotta be honest, have never felt so ‘shellshocked', for lack of a better word, after that exam…I got the feeling like coulda got a 15% or 87%, who knows. Tips on studying though, I studied for TOO LONG i think, started at the end of July and I just felt like I was getting TOO into the material…I read a quote on these forums that put it perfectly in my eyes – “The test is a million miles long, but only an inch thick”…If i were to study again, which i PRAY i DO NOT have to do haha im not going to get held up on to many details and try to treat the test more generally…given, this is all relative and Ive heard some horror stories about specific tests and what-not, but I think this is fair in my epxerience and taht of others on this forum.
Specifically, I would get through the chapters-really, dont waste time watching Tim & Peter (if you have Becker…) ramble on in the videos about every little thing…I began watching all, then none, then decided Id only watch what I couldnt grasp or certain topics where their cheesy acronyms helped (Like Capital lease stuff, etc)…Then just bang out multiple choice-its boring and tedious and stressful with FAR because not matter how many you do you always seem to get that stupid same question wrong becasue of that little detail you missed or overlooked, but dont worry, youll notice it when in that Prometric room I bet…Now, practicing simulations is a topic of debate on here, and at first I was on the side of ignoring them…but on second though near my final review I started to work thru them, and, especially with becker where journal entries are scarce practice, it was DEFINITLEY worth it…I spent 1 day doing ALL the simulations twice, then wrtiing the journal entries a couple times on accounting notepad…defintly helped out with a sort of different way of viewing the material and testing to see if your getting evrything-also, I dont know if its just me but I for some reason assumed the writing comms would be easy, then I started to try to ACTUALLY do them in the sims, and struggled…so I went thru all of them and just practiced the format, using resources, etc. and made me feel comfortable in the testing room.
I hope this is of some assistance…its a wild experience, I can promise you I wont be checking mys cores until after the new year haha my cost-benefit analysis of enjoying the holidays and knowing my scores came to the colcusion that the holidays are great as-is, and a passing score will make em a little more awesome. BUt a failing score will make em HORRIBLE. Good luck and if having anything more specific lemme know

December 7, 2010 at 10:29 pm #370849TonyParticipanthey all,
I'm looking for some input. I am taking REG on 01/15/11. I am using my 2009 Becker materials for studying. My friend just got the 2011 information, so I am going to compare books and see if there are big differences between the two. I know REG is the test changing the least amount.
Will I be good with the 2009 Becker materials (after review of the 2011 materials) or are there that many changes that I should purchase the 2011 information?
Thanks in advance!

REG (01/15/10)December 8, 2010 at 7:57 pm #370850AldogParticipant@hmubeen: haha no problem, after being clueless for so long I wish more people would give detailed descriptions of experience/something to work off of…I definitley feel like I have a good grasp on the methodology & mindset needed to study and pass this test after the past few mths. My mind is still hurting from AUD &FAR so I havent even began BEC/REG adventure yet
Good luck to you to-one more thing, I got thru F1-F4 in like september and everytjhign I learned managed to slip away…I KNOW its not going to seem important, at least it didnt for me, but i cant stress enough to do little mini reviews as your studying-i.e. after F4-F6, go back nd do at least the sims from F1-F3 so you actually recall what the topics even are (bcasue i forgot)
Becker has stupid guidelines like “F4 one day, the F5, then 2,000 review multiple choice from F1,2,3…”, basically a schedule noone will ever follow…so i ignored it, i shouldve taken it seriusly and even just went thru the outlines once or twice when taking a break during later chapter studying…guarantee this will help come that last 9 days when you write out your study schedule and FREAK OUT becasue the days arent adding up to how much you need to review and god wasnt nice enough to give us the power to create more time when we need it lol
anyway, goodluck and feel free to ask me whatevr (email is ajferrer@loyola.edu, in case you dont wanna bother logging in here every time)

Reading your post has been very helpful to me. I am planning to sit for FAR in Feb, preferably the end of. I was thinking of taking it in April but doing that will not benefit me time wise, aside from the fact that I just wanted to get it done and over with so I can have my life back. I have read and/or heard horror stories regarding the FAR exam, one of them was from a friend who cried after taking the test because she did not finish her 2nd simulation. She scored a 95…granted that she is smart and I knew she was going to pass, I just didn't think that she would score that high! Go figure…I sat for REG on 11/30 and like the others, am waiting for the results, hopefully good news. Good luck on your exams, and thanks again.
December 11, 2010 at 1:41 pm #370852AnonymousInactiveFYI
Becker 2011 for REG arrived yesterday. Glad the material came quickly. FAR has not been shipped yet but should get here fairly soon. – I hope! Good thing I planned on taking REG first.
For $20 the 2010 REG and Final Review were updated to 2011 materials.
Also updated FAR for and Final Review materials for aother $20
Wish they would sell the flash cards by section!
Good luck to those who are studying!
December 11, 2010 at 11:12 pm #370853Sdb2fsuParticipantSo I just finished the corporate tax section of REG (about 23hrs of video completed) and am feeling a little overwhelmed. There is just soooooo much to remember!!!! I've taken crazy notes and still have about 16 hours of video left…ahhhh!!! my exam is in about 4 weeks and should have all the video done in about 4-5 days. Then I'm going to do all the M/C suggested, then rewrite my notes. Hopefully this reinenforces the topics because I feel like most of it hasn't stuck yet….
