I wouldn't… that's six weeks of unnecessary studying if you passed 😀

hopingfor75 – I probably won't be restudying after I take my REG exam even if I think I failed, it would be a waste of time if you passed! and with your other grades, you are probably fine!

Well checking in/out for the night… got through Bankruptcy tonight, got in the mid-60s on the homework but also am preoccupied with football and am exhausted…. hopefully I can finish up R7 Thursday/Friday this week, grad classes are definitely getting in the way of studying every night, oh well…

    FAR 7/2 - 88
    BEC 7/30 - 87
    AUD 8/27 - 80

Glad you're making some good progress with REG, R3 and R4 are really long and were pretty complicated for me, I had to listen to the lectures twice and review the chapters 3 times or so to really get them. But it was worth it as they appeared all over the real test. All the business law sections are really detailed to but I'd suggest knowing the overall concepts. Watch all the videos but take away the main concepts and don't get worried in the insane amount of minor details and nuances , those few questions can be the difference between passing and not.

finally scored over 90% on a progress exam for R1 and R2. I think I can officially say I'm ready to move on to R3. This crap is tough. I'm going with the approach that if I just drill this stuff enough times into my brain it'll be permanently (or at least semi-permanently long enough for the exam) indented into my brain so I won't forget it.

I wrote out flashcards for EVERY SINGLE item on an individual tax return (ex. Mortgage interest – acquisition debt) and then on the back of the flashcard I would write what it is (ex. Sched A Itemized Deduction) and then write any “specialties” underneath that (i.e. limited to $1,000,000 of indebtedness)

I'm just hoping that seeing this stuff enough will work because at the moment it just seems like SO MUCH STUFF :-/

Ok….so I did the second exam and I don't know whether I should be worried or not…

    Testlet 1: 19/24 79%

    Testlet 2: 22/24 91%

    Testlet 3: 16/14 66%

Sims weren't looking good :(…ranged from 0% to 100 on calculation tabs, the usual for 100% for communications and right options chosen for research. (seems I have a weakness in partnership basis and sometimes filling out tax forms ugh). Will have to review partnership initial basis once AGAIN. Review weak points – particularly bankruptcy.

What are the chances that I'll have to fill out a tax form in real SIMS? lol Oh well!

@cpawait – at least you have 2 days to brush up on weak areas! I know that's not very encouraging sorry 🙁 Wish I could help more.

    I'm trudging through R3 today….. *sigh*

I re-took REG yesterday because my prior passing score expired. Pretty sure I passed, but why would there be only a few questions about specific areas? I looked as my prior score results and I previously scored stronger in both certain sections. I know different tests circulate, but I feel that the new test was based on my prior test results. They can't do that can they?? If for some reason I fail to pass, would this be grounds for appeal?

@GOCHARGERS – I really doubt that would be grounds for appeal, sorry 🙁 but maybe someone else on here has a different opinion…

My 6 month on-line subscription to the AICPA and FASB professional literature is not helping me to prepare my research part of Reg section. The the AICPA and FASB professional literature does not include IRS database. Any student is aware with any other free on line resource?

aazaidi – I think the research is only a point or two so don't sweat it, I think it comes from the Internal Revenue Code (https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/26/usc_sup_01_26.html) that is the link to it, not sure how to search without just clicking through the levels. Can anyone else shed light on what the research is from?

Alright, so tonight I need to get through 1.5 hrs of lecture and almost 100 mcqs so all I have tomorrow is the supplemental questions for R7!! And then I lose this weekend to studying due to a wedding and other family coming in from out of state!

Question for anyone who may have taken REG recently (this testing window or the last) …. I will take REG on October 23. I am aware of the 6 month window on new laws, regulations, etc but at what point do they start asking the candidate to be aware of 2010 threshold amounts instead of 2009? I have the 2010 Wiley book, and this only has 2009 limits. So for the test, should I expect to know 2010, 2009, or both?

    > REG - 78
