Well I'm back into this studying for CPA exams mode… sort of… got a bit derailed due to starting my new job and starting grad classes… I had to move my exam to Nov. 12th, I was hoping to move it up a week earlier but have midterms that week for grad classes, so unfortunately I think I'll be in for a long wait for Wave 2… Just about finished my first time through with Becker, and now to start the Wiley book, definitely am taking no chances on not having time to finish my review…. Well if it makes you guys feel better Peter comes back in R4/R5 somewhere to take over for Ghearty….

Wow Michelle you're super prepared! I'm working on R1 in Becker today and hoping to hit this thing in Wave 1.. I have my exam scheduled for Nov 23rd but I will be moving that. I really really want to know if I failed by the end of November so I can restudy and take a section jan 1st. I start full time work Jan 3rd so I want to have this all finished by then!

And yeah I know how you feel about the final review. I'm trying to finish a chapter in Becker every other day so I have a full 2 weeks to review so I can still fit this thing in during Wave 1… review is SO important!

This is my most dreaded section :-/

Florida – Definitely not taking any chances since I figure if I fail it this time around I probably wouldn't be able to take it until after tax season next year, and I want this thing to be done with so badly and not hanging over my head until then. I had wanted to be in review starting last week when I started my job but these grad classes are taking up way too much of my time on the weekends…. I expected to do maybe 8 hrs maximum of work outside of class and it seems to be closer to 12 hrs per week! Oh well, hopefully we are all done this year! How was BEC?

Ehhh I don't know about BEC, I think I'm just freaking myself out. I'm not saying anything until scores come out LOL!

And I definitely agree with your strategy!

p.s. I'm in grad school too but I made sure I took blow off classes this semester. I tried to study CPA during the spring but I was taking actual workload courses and had like 12-20 hrs/week of schoolwork. Long story short I just took the entire spring and summer off of CPA studying because the classes were so much work. But since I got all the hard classes out of the way I was able to just take 3 easy electives this semester with a maximum “outside class” work requirement of like 4-5 hrs/week. It's freaking amazing LOL!

Finally finished the lectures and reviewing the book for R1 (individual tax – income) … now on to MCQ's. How did I forget how much I DON'T like tax? LOL

@Florida – I got stuck with the hard classes this summer, but apparently they are some of the hardest so it should be downhill from here, unfortunately they are foundation classes, corporate and individual tax so at least they tie to this exam…. I got through like one part of R7 today…. lots more to do tomorrow….

Just finished R1 finally. That was painful! I listened to the lecture, took lots of notes and still was scoring only between 60-80% on the different homework sections. That is discouraging. I'm hoping just doing a million MCQ's will get me used to seeing all the “tricks” and “notes” that they are talking about and eventually I will just pick it up? Here's to hoping!

Hey guys….posted this on another forum and wanted to see what you all think of this. I currently use Becker for review, and here is first practice exam result:

    Research Tab

    (Self Graded) 100

    Testlet 5

    Tab 1 ; 100

    Tab 2 ; 40

    Tab 3 ; 60

I've been studying for close to 3 weeks and I'm all over the place with concepts and such. I felt horrible on this exam and had to choose between 2 seemingly correct MCQ choices on several occasions. I'm kinda shocked at my scores. So, yeah, I still want to review and make sure that I'm not forgetting so much. I plan on taking the exam this Friday, but considering the consensus that the real exam is harder than Becker finals I'm beginning to have a change of mind. Perhaps this first test is a fluke (as I didn't put in as much study time as recommended). Most people recommend closer to 2 months.

I want to take this before I start my new job (which commences next week actually) and focus on AUD then. Don't know if I'm being overly ambitious. Is there hope for me with these scores?

cpawait – I think normally the real exam is easier than Becker Final Review, not sure if this is the same for REG as the other sections…. I try to aim for at least 80% on everything…. If you can study full-time between now and Friday, I would say pull a couple long nights and be done with it… believe me starting a new job kills your study time…

Well now after 8 hrs of training via webex today at work, now I get to do 2-3 hrs of Becker…. maybe I'll be close to finishing R7 by the end of tonight…

great job michelle! I'm starting R2 tonight! Eeeeks! LOL

And cpawait – I think you're fine. Real exams I've always heard are harder than Becker exams. I scored 75% on my becker final for FAR and made a 91 in real life 😉 But i”m not sure how it works for REG so take that with a grain of salt 😉

anybody know the score predictions for Oct/Nov window if I took reg Oct 2?

I'm feeling really anxious on this one, as it is my last- there was so much material on my MC and sims that was not covered by becker… i'm kind of disappointed. I am hoping for the best ugh

hopingfor75 – I'm assuming they'll be halfway through November until the end of November 🙁 I know that's not very helpful sorry 🙁

I'm sure you did okay but even if you didn't, there's nothing to do now but trust yourself and wait. I know I feel the same way about BEC and waiting is the hardest thing ever!

    Hang in there!
