For Yaeger, is the REG Cram recommended? There is quite a bit of information, just wanted to see what others think. Also having a hard time memorizing AMT between personal and corp, any quick and dirty way to help memorize?

    FAR - 95
    AUD - 82
    REG - 94
    BEC - 84

@Nickk – I just bought that Wiley book, and I got free 2 day shipping for being a student! Hopefully they are better at some of this tax stuff then Becker. I feel like Becker is going through AMT and other things way too fast and I'm confused and I've already had classes and internships on these things. Hopefully Wiley has more than 2 mcq's on AMT 🙂

    FAR 7/2 - 88
    BEC 7/30 - 87
    AUD 8/27 - 80
    REG 11/12 - 96

Taking REG on Oct 24th. Any pointers for studying? I took in April and got a 70. I start studying again tomorrow and want to be really efficient this time around. Thanks!

I took REG last May and I mainly used Yaeger cram and supplemented it with Becker Passmaster. Dr. Phil is very good in explaining the AMT and other taxation topics that I have difficulty with when I read the Wiley book. I gave credit to Yaeger for making me pass the 3 sections of the CPA exam.

    BEC 2/8/10 - 75 (studied hard & prayed less)
REG 5/15/10 - 88 (studied less but prayed hard)
AUDITING 8/9/10 - 79 (studied hard and prayed hard)
FAR 11/30/10 - 79 (studied hard and prayed hard) Thanks GOD! I'm DONE

    1. It looks like it expired. I was wondering the same thing the only thing I found was this publication from the IRS about changes. These were the instructions for the 1040 last year, it says in there that it is expiring in 2010. I couldn't find anything that says it didn't.

    https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/i1040.pdf

    2. Here is the link for the pdf. If that doesn't work you go to the course update page and its the one marked R1: Supplemental Information.

I'm just going to throw this out there but I'm extremely frustrated with Becker's, I have the 2010 materials and some of the stuff hasn't been updated since 2008. I have a question/clarification…. the Limitation on Itemized Deductions (p. 2-17) is this separate from AMT, I think so but it is really unclear. I'm trying to go through my 2007 textbook from an individual taxation class I took then but am finding it really discouraging that I need to keep looking up stuff to get the correct information. Am I just trying to hard or is anyone else having these difficulties?

I think I am truly losing it….. I just got excited that Pete is going to start lecturing instead of Tim….. can this please be over sooner rather than later? It is so difficult to be studying while waiting for results. I guess I gotta get my self into real study mode since grad classes start tonight :(.

I spent about 3 months on REG. I passed all four CPA exams in the 18 month window, which was my goal. I took and passed FAR, REG and BEC last year. However, my last exam, AUD, kicked my butt this year. (I only had a college correspondence course in auditing, which was a joke.)

Sorry, should have specified – about how many hours. I am studying full time and have about 90 hours in a period of almost 3 weeks. Will have a total of 150 or so by the time I plan on taking the exam. I am concerned as there is quite a bit of memorization.

    FAR - 95
    AUD - 82
    REG - 94
    BEC - 84

    Gabe1475,

I studied about 100 hours for REG and didn't quite finish the book. I believe with your goal and where you are now, you will be able to finish it. That's quite some hours you have covered in three weeks!

In Jeff's study schedule the recommended time for REG should be about 120 hours [give or take some hours based on study style and how well you retain info I guess). Good Luck!
