Taxes aren't really that principles based so you'll have to memorize a lot there too.

    FAR 92 - AUD 91 - REG 94 - BEC 86

Somehow accounting related rules are easier to remember than the Business Law material. Probably because I can relate back to what I do on a daily basis and it seems more interesting.

    FAR - 95
    AUD - 82
    REG - 94
    BEC - 84

Update: My REG Study Guide now covers Gift/Estate/Trust Tax and is 72 pages. If you have a previous version, e-mail me and I'll update your copy.

Took REG a couple of weeks ago – got hammered with a certain concept that I have a lot of trouble with, so those 10-12 questions could have very well ruined my score! I thought the sims were pretty reasonable. I've always had plenty of time to spare on my exams, but for some reason, I finished REG with only 4 minutes to spare. Now it's back to re-studying BEC and AUD for Oct/Nov testing!

    Hi all,

I'm studying for REG using becker's 2010 book. All the material notes 2009 amounts. I did find the updates on the Becker website for 2010, and some of the limitations that were in place for 2009 have expired for 2010, or are in legislation. I'm wondering for those points there are currently in legislation (in progress of renewal) can I skip? For example in REG2 pg22, during 2009 individuals were allowed to use the sales tax deduction when itemizing. The 2010 Becker updates says:

The Sales Tax deduction expired at the end of 2009. There is currently legislation in Congress to extend this through 2010.

Should I even bother studying similar material regarding ‘legislation in Congress'.??

abc123- I was about to post the same question, I am just about finished with Reg 1 and saw that there a lot of updates for the becker's 2010 book.

I have another question too, there was a supplemental information update on the Becker website as well that is 25 pages long on like-kind exchanges, should I go through all of this information or just go through it if I have time at the end? It seems to be a lot of details about different situations in regards to like-kind exchanges.

    FAR 7/2 - 88
    BEC 7/30 - 87
    AUD 8/27 - 80
    REG 11/12 - 96

    abc and michelle –

I worried about the 2009/2010 updates when I was studying a couple of weeks ago, as well. If you notice in the practice questions, the question will normally say ‘In 200X'. They don't try to trip you up on this on the exam. Don't worry about it too much! Hope this helps somewhat.

Best way to mitigate the risks of using an older review course- buy a Wiley book and do that your last few weeks of studying. I used Becker 2009 for BEC, FAR, and AUD and then for the last two weeks of studying, I do all of the questions in the 2010 Wiley book a few times. The questions are harder than Becker too! Best part is, the books are only about $35 each if you buy them on Amazon! Getting geared up for REG in October:)

Thanks for the tip Nickk!! The biggest issue I have is that I have the Becker 2010 stuff but they still provide all 2009 amounts and such in the book and their website isn't the best of describing the changes as you probably already know. I may look into the Wiley book though for only $35. When are you sitting for Reg?

    FAR 7/2 - 88
    BEC 7/30 - 87
    AUD 8/27 - 80
    REG 11/12 - 96

The thing with the Wiley books that I didn't like is they are so huge! It's like looking at a dictionary. I have been using Becker, and the smallest (thinnest) section is AUD… the Wiley book for AUD was thicker than my largest section FAR. Wiley has detail on EVERY SINGLE aspect, where Becker only highlights the areas that have been previously tested on the exam. So in my opinion, WILEY was extremely overwhelming.

I used them for Audit and plan on using them for Regulation as well. I definitely think that they helped me a lot with audit, I haven't looked at the Reg notes but they will probably be just as helpful!

    FAR 7/2 - 88
    BEC 7/30 - 87
    AUD 8/27 - 80
    REG 11/12 - 96

abc – there's a few quotes from people who have used them for REG on the page.

They do come with a full no-hassle refund if you buy them and you don't find them up to par.
