Recommended prep time for REG is 5-6 weeks @ 20 hours a week.

November 2, 2010 at 9:02 pm #258570Florida_CandidateParticipantI just read and “post-it”-ed Jeff's notes for tomorrow. I have about 20 minutes worth of post-its to do a quick refresh right before the exam. I love his notes for that very reason!
However, unlike the other notes I've bought from him (AUD and BEC) I had to add/change a few things in these. But they were still almost 100% awesome…
1. His order of unsecured creditors in the bankruptcy section is a bit off from Becker's. I don't know who' right, I'm not going to research it, I'm just going with the Becker order because that's what I studied 🙂
2. He doesn't include anything on securities regulations which seemed to be kinda heavily tested in Becker's final exams. So… I made a 1 page summary on it. Nothing too fancy.
Otherwise, his notes are great as always 😀
I'm off to take my final “practice exam” and hopefully be done by 7pm. Then make dinner and watch some trashy tv for the rest of the night! Hehe, it's my “night before exam” tradition now! Gotta catch up on the last month of Jersey Shore, 16 and pregnant, LA Ink, and all those fun useless mind-mushing shows 😀
p.s. I'll probably update on what I get on the final practice. I took the first final practice exam last night and got a 79 and then reviewed those areas I missed. I'm not worried though honestly a 79 in Becker is a passing in real life! LOL

-AMT (I'm giving up on this I'm seeming to do okay with missing stuff)
-Estates/Trusts (I just get confused…. blah!)
And…. yep. All the other mistakes I made were “silly mistakes” that I won't make tomorrow because I won't be tired and cranky lol.
Time for trashy TV!!!

With a score like that on the Becker final, you'll ace it. Nineties for sure.
I never understood AMT or estates and trusts, and I never attempted to. AMT was just way too much crap and calculations and never had any logic to me, and estates and trusts were similar. No logic or common sense involved. So I figured screw them both.
It worked out.

November 3, 2010 at 2:44 pm #258579Florida_CandidateParticipantUgh. Not sure what to say. That test was probably the most painful out of all of them :(. There were things I had never seen before as well as stuff that I had seen, but just forgot. As well as stuff where I couldn't exactly figure out what they were asking. I'm not going to google the weird stuff I'd never seen (even though I remember them) because that would just freak me out.
Bottom line… I was as prepared as I could have been. Honestly, studying for 3 more weeks wouldn't have helped me based on the stuff that i struggled with in the exam. So I feel good about that.
My major points on the exam:
1. Some multiple choice questions I couldn't figure out what they were asking
2. For an entire Sim tab I couldn't figure out what they were asking so I just filled in the given information in the boxes 🙁 Hoping to get some points for filling stuff in?
3. I spent way too much time with certain areas that didn't show up
4. I spent a lot of time studying for things that DID show up so I don't really regret over-studying things that didn't
5. More time studying wouldn't have helped. I didn't understudy
6. First testlet felt medium-hard, second was brutal and the third was medium again :-/ whateverrrrr
I hope I passed. I was also hoping I'd feel relieved afterward and I don't. Not at all.

I think we may have had a similar sim. I too had a sim that I wasn't even sure what they wanted. I filled it all in and crossed my fingers!

You passed.
If I've learned anything from these tests, it's that you should gauge your grade based on how you feeling going in, not how you feel coming out.
The things you struggled with were probably either pretest questions that don't count or really hard questions worth a lot of points. As for the simulations, I've completed six of them and haven't felt decent about one of them.
YOU'RE DONE!!!

November 3, 2010 at 10:09 pm #258582hazeyCPAParticipantHey Florida Candidate,
I took REG today too and I feel exactly like you. I kind of expected to feel crappy comming out of this one becuase I did for AUD and FAR too. All the tests that have progressive testing basically always leave you walking out of the exam center thinking you failed. That's usually a good sign though.
This is my last test so I was really pumped to take it and be done. I don't think I could have studied anymore then I did. I think I did well on the MCs; there were some weird questions that were probably pre-test and some questions which I should have known how to answer right away and maybe got right? but who knows? . The first was easy, the second was a lot harder, the third was harder than the first maybe a little easier than the second. The SIMs were really hard. I had no idea what they wanted for a bunch of them but I filled in what I could and hopefully picked up some points. My writing parts were solid though. I technically ran out of time, but I was just playing with the last SIM hoping to get as many points as I could – wasn't completely sure of the answer but had an idea.
The wait always sucks. I took this test today becuase it is hopefully my last one and I wanted to wait the least amount of time for my score without being in wave 2. Hopefully, i didnt have a new Sim otherwise im in for a really long wait.
good luck everyone!
