Recommended prep time for REG is 5-6 weeks @ 20 hours a week.

I know Becker went into great lengths about this, hopefully Wiley does a better job at explaining but I have no clue how heavily it is tested…..

I know exactly how you feel…just telling my husband the same thing – except, I'm on FAR …will be glad when I get through all the material the first time.
Good to see you pop in – I was thinking about you earlier tonight – wondering how you were doing. I'm sure you'll do great, but post back and let us know…you got the right testing center this time though, right? ;D Good Luck!

And yeah I got the right testing center this time, and studying is “going”… I don't know I feel like I really get a section when I'm doing it but by the time I've moved on to a different section I've kinda forgotten the other ones 🙁 I think my brain is revolting on me. All I can do is keep hitting the information hard and hope that enough of it sticks on Wednesday for a 75 🙂
How are you two doing??

You're going to nail REG. I learned the most about REG in my last two week review than in the regular course. The second through I was amazed at how much easier it got for me.

Lots to try to accomplish today with a friend's Halloween party tonight. I'm sure to get off to a slow start tomorrow morning.
Hope some of you can take time to enjoy the holiday and still accomplish your study goals.
Cheers tonight for us to get our 1, 2, or 3 sections passed this quarter! 🙂

REG - waitingOctober 30, 2010 at 4:30 pm #2585462010PleaseParticipant@Florida,
I'm just beginning F7 today…ugh – am really just so tired of this stuff. I still have to hit governmental and and nfp next…but I did have a governmental class Fall 2008, so I'm hoping it isn't too foriegn for me…we'll see. I really want to be done with this craziness, but it will be 4 more weeks for me. Just hoping to get through all chapters by next weekend and then have three weeks to review – with working full time, I'll need it. I plan to take off work during most of the week of Thanksgiving though to really try to solidify things I'm feeling queasy about right now, so I'm hoping I'll kill the FAR beast instead of it killing me. :-/
I'm sure you'll do great with REG. There was really only one trouble spot I had with it, and it just happened to be an entire simulation on a topic I had not really reviewed in depth (Becker had sort of downplayed it) – but even with that, everything else was so familiar, I came out with an 85. If you review everything in Becker, including supplementals, you'll be fine. I had just begun working when I started REG and I let that one area slip…got hit with a simulation on it – my luck!! Would have taken me about one hour to hit that area (had it in my tax classes back in 2006) hard in my studying, and I would have done much, much better on REG. Live and learn, I suppose. 🙂

As for REG…… finally finished my “preliminary” review today which means I re-read all the chapters, took notes, and re-did all the problems (including supplementals) for all the chapters. Now….. hmmmm this is what I “should” do (whether or not I actually do it I'm not sure, I'm running low on brain power):
1. Take a Becker “progress test” today and figure out any weak areas (I'm assuming tax since I reviewed that 2 weeks ago??)
2. Re-review any “really bad” areas…..
3. If no “really-bad” areas move on to gleim test bank. These questions are absolutely KILLER. I tried doing these in the beginning and ended up just deciding these would be my “final review” questions because they are so hard. They were really killing my confidence in the beginning. So let's hope that I'm a little more confident now :D.
Other than that, just questions questions and more questions. The hard work is done, time to “drill” now!

REG-99 (11/3)October 31, 2010 at 7:36 pm #258548Florida_CandidateParticipantOkedoke so just finished my first progress test from Becker and the results are as follows:
R1 (Ind. Tax): 81
R2 (Ind. Tax): 84
R3 (C/S Corp Tax): 93
R4 (P/S, Estate/Trust Tax): 100
R5 (Contracts/Sales): 90
R6 (Commercial Paper/Secured Transactions): 100
R7 (Agency/Bankruptcy/Securities/Liability): 100
Overall: 93
So kinda exactly what I expected. I don't think I'll EVER be strong on tax but I'm starting to feel like I'm okay with that. I went into FAR with only getting a 75 on the progress exam (overall) and pulled a 91 somehow. So, I'm thinking that I'm feeling “okay” about this exam. However, I will definitely spend the next couple days drilling Individual tax, C/S Corp tax and contracts/sales in gleim (though I probably won't spend VERY much time on contract/sales, I feel pretty confident about that crap).
But no “really bad” areas. So I think I can tentatively say “I'm DONE with Becker!”. Onto Gleim now…. the confidence killer!

REG-99 (11/3)October 31, 2010 at 9:15 pm #258549michelle119Participant@Florida – Wow you have amazing results from your practice test! You'll kill this exam! I'm going to try and take a progress test tonight, I have a little less than 2 weeks and am losing the next 3 days to a stupid midterm, so I'm going to have to allocate accordingly after that…. I doubt I'll get grades anywhere close to those, hoping for mid to upper 70's on most parts…

REG 11/12 - 96November 1, 2010 at 1:47 am #258550studyingismynewhobbyParticipantFL, that progress test is awesome! I hope to do that well tomorrow or whenever I decide to take it.
Please let me know how the Gleim MCQ go. I'm on the fence on purchasing something to supplemental Becker with. Comparing the other three exams I think I scored the highest the first time through in Reg, so I'm not sure if I just finally got the hang of recognizing their “tricks” or if I actually know the material. Plus I'm not sure how much time I'll have to review something additional so I've been holding off.
Made it through the entire book. Glad to be done with all the business law. Tomorrow will start the review for about 2.5 weeks. Kissing my social life truly goodbye until the evening of the 18th.

Just wanted to say hello to everyone. Reading all of your posts always motivates me. I'm sick as a dog but I'm plugging away with my review; still on track with my schedule. Can't wait to get this done and over with.
Good luck to everyone else testing this week, and the next! 🙂
November 1, 2010 at 3:49 pm #258552Florida_CandidateParticipantlol okay so my “review” on gleim questions are… they are a LOT harder than Becker ones. Hands down. The first time I took a practice session in gleim was last night, only 20 questions, I Just wanted a preview of what it was going to be like before I went to bed last night. Scored an 85% on it so I was feeling pretty good.
Woke up today and started up…. I'm now getting about 50% on the questions i'm doing. I'm not worried though because these questions just seem a lot harder. So I'm just viewing this as “picking up some extra points” in the few days before the exam. People pass REG all the time with just doing Becker and I feel super confident with Becker's questions, so this is just a little extra “drilling” 🙂
