    Hey Jeff,

I was wondering how much weight I should place on the last two chapters of the Becker Reg book. Ch 6 (Commerical Paper, Secured Transactions, & Real Property) and Ch. 7 (Agency, Bankruptcy, Securities, Liability, & Property Insurance). The study guide at the front of the 2010 book, doesn't even have them in the study schedule. I know business law is only 20-25% of the entire exam, and I'm thinking contracts makes up the majority of that. I know it's good to learn everything, but my exam is on Monday. Should I just focus on really nailing down the tax and contracts sections, and just kind of lightly review the rest. Any advice you have would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Speaking of Becker's 2010 REG section, many updates have been posted to the thresholds and amounts printed in the text. I am assuming the exam will test the present 2010 situation, not 2009, correct? For example, in 2010 the itemized deduction phase-outs are no longer in place, so that's what would apply for the exam, right?

    Thanks,

    Jan

    Hi everyone,

I am taking REG on the 31st and have some concern regarding the Estate tax. I know for 2010 this and the generational skipping have effectively been removed.

On the first final exam in Becker the second sim has an estate subject matter, which I find to be wholly unhelpful since the tax law changes should be in effect on the test now.

I was hoping someone could clarify exactly how Estate taxes could be tested still. I have not learned the 2009 rules at all since they do not apply anymore.

    Thanks for any insight.

Estate tax rules are tested on the exam…. I know becker discusses the rules that applied to 2009 and then just has a blurb saying in 2010 it is removed (changed). I would not count on only being tested only on “2010” information.

Thanks for replying koliver. When did you take your REG test? It seems odd to have material on the test for 2009 rules since it has been over 6mo. since the changes have come into play.

@potatogun… i took my exam on august 6th. I believe they continue to test on it because the rules will be reinstated (maybe with some chages) next year. They could never give us soon-to-be CPAs a break on an exam, could they? good luck!

Ya, it isn't so much an issue with learning material it is just the uncertainty of WHAT material. A bit ridiculous. Thanks for your help. I will give the 2009 rules a once over at least.

CPA – Valez – just started studying for this. How did you find the material compared to the other parts? I started with the Business Law section and it is fairly borring. Also congrats on FAR, just noticed you passed.

    Good luck on the test.

Well I am off to take REG, my last exam.

    I keep singing:

It's the end of the exam as I know it

It's the end of the exam as I know it

It's the end of the exam as I know it

    And I feel fine

    AUD - 81, BEC - 74, 80, FAR - 82, REG - 81

Well this was my least prepared exam, however I think the material was somewhat the easiest of any exam for me. I have no idea how I did. Its a coin flip. I could not notice a difference in the testlets, but I never have been able to for any exam. I heard so much about reg being pressed for time, but I actually finished w/ 45 min to go. I never took a break and then on my last sim I really, really had to go to the bathroom and that ended speeding me way up. Overall the sims were not bad at all.

I have no idea if I passed, but it wouldn't shock me if I did not pass. Either way, I'm finally done studying at least until scores come out.

    AUD - 81, BEC - 74, 80, FAR - 82, REG - 81
    Done!

Took my exam today…..not too bad. I have got my fingers crossed!!!!

@ Gabe….I would rate the test from hardest to not so hardest FAR, BEC, REG, AUD.

Reg was so much better than studying for FAR. I hated FAR!!!!!

Yaeger starts out with going over taxes so that's where I started. I like taxes though.

I am actually tacking Business Law first as it seems I should be able to do my first pass in 3 days. Will look at taxes next. It has to be better than Business Law! I enjoy anything accounting/concept related over memorization.

    FAR - 95
    AUD - 82
    REG - 94
    BEC - 84
