AllenA: Please share your experience of the ethics exam. Any suggestions? How hard was it compare to Regulation? You seem to have taken it just three days after the REG. How much time you spent to prepare? Thanks!

Passed REG (wave 2 April 2010) which was my last part and I still need 21 college credits. Do you recieve anything in the mail or do you just send something in once you attain the 150 credits? No congratulations from the AICPA?

    BEC 88; FAR 83; AUD 81; REG FEB 28

    elsie,

Do you have any auditing experience? If so, start with AUD

Are you familiar with variances, IT, or economics? If so, start with BEC

If you feel shaking about both topics in general, I'd start with BEC (just a personal preference).

    Elsie-

I would put the AUD in your 2 month block and BEC in your 1 month block. Those are the only two sections i've taken (studying for REG now) and I spent about 2 1/2 months on AUD and 6 weeks on BEC. I think I could have spent less time on AUD but it was my first and I was paranoid and nervous plus I'm bad at it. Hope this helps!

    Determined2bCPA,

The ethics exam was unusually easy. It is an open-book test (and I didn't notice a time limit on the exam). There were 40 MC questions that were listed chronologically throughout the study course. In comparison to REG, the ethics exam was a piece of cake. I opened up the browser with the test and then opened the CD-Rom course. I picked a question and then went through the course until I found it. After finding the answers, move on to the next question. The next answer will be later in the course.

It took me about an hour to complete the entire course. I'm sure you would benefit by watching the entire course and then taking the exam, but I'm not that patient. I don't think the exam tells you which questions you missed (until you get a passing score) so write down the questions that you guessed on and, if you don't pass the first time, you can go back to those questions without having to redo the entire test. You have three attempts to get a 90 percent.

In short, the exam was very easy. I didn't review at all, just opened the course and took the test. I'd apportion about two hours to get it done if you don't want to go through the course first. Good luck!

    elsie,

I agree with the posts above. Audit requires more time consuming preparation than BEC, in my opinion. If you've recently graduated from college with a business degree, BEC will be very easy to study for and pass. I studied for BEC for one week (I did put in quite a few hours that week) and felt completely prepared to take it when I did. You can prepare easily for BEC by doing a lot of MC questions and really understanding their answers. The actual exam was much easier than many of the BISK practice questions I'd done.

Audit will definitely take longer than BEC if you don't have prior audit experience. If you do have audit experience, perhaps you should take that in your one-month window. However, the audit exam requires that you know a bit more than MCs because the simulations require analysis and discussion. I studied it for three weeks and felt pretty good about it before taking the exam.

    Good luck!

Im kind of freaking out about my test. The more I think about it the more depressed I get.

Anyone has any bad REG stories and still got a passing score?

    FAR - 93 , AUD- 96 , REG - 90 , BEC- 5/29

any suggestions for last two weeks of reg???????? pls help!! feel ok about taxes but worried about law part?????

Remember that the law portion only accounts for about 15 – 20 percent of the exam. I don't remember too many difficult law questions from the exam. I don't think there has been a law simulation in quite some time. As always, do a ton of MC questions in the law portion and you will be prepared. The tax simulations are nearly impossible to prepare for and, I'm guessing, they will be the most difficult part of the exam. Just take a deep breath before you open each tab, try your best on each question, and keep the remaining time in mind.

If you feel strong about the tax part of the exam, you should be able to prepare well for the law portion through MC questions over the next two weeks. Flashcards were helpful to me.

    Best of luck, Elsie!

Wow! Reg was much harder then I thought. It seemed like there was a ton of questions about a certain topic that I didn't study at all! I looked back at my Bisk review book and what felt like a majority of the test was covered in only about 7 pages. Was anyone else surprised by the test? I hope that the curve is enough to help me pass.

    done!

Quick question for anyone who has take REG this window…

Did your written communications contain a portion that said something like this, “Be sure to mention at least four of the following principals in your memo….” and then there was a list of items?

Both of my written simulations said that and I hadn't seen that on any of the previous simulations from audit or FAR.

I hope this isn't considered divulging CPA exam information.

Jeff, can you answer the following questions:

    1. Is there a curve on the exams, in other words does your score depend on other people performance?

    2. Do they grade both simulations or only one (regardless whether or not the simulation was new)?

    Thanks a lot,
