    Allen –

I am using Becker materials – the live class. For me, it seems to be working so far, so I think I will continue with it. I am beginning to really struggle to keep my focus though, so I hope to finish REG before it gets much worse. That's good to hear about BEC since I really think that I will suffer from the most distractions while studying for it. I might even just try to take it earlier than I originally scheduled it and try to stay more focused for a shorter period of time instead of trying to focus for a whole month. I am really eager to get this 3rd one over with. Good luck! You are almost finished!

    CPA At Last,

I'll be taking REG in 3 weeks and I'm interested to hear some more about your experience. Would you say that the questions required a lot of memorization on requirements/phaseout numbers? Did you have enough time or did you get cut off by the 2nd sim?

    bakagal,

I prepared very well for this exam, i studied for about 45 days.I did a lot of multiple choice qeustions (more than 2,000).I made it a point i understood the concepts and why i was getting the answers wrong.I do not believe in memorizing, so was basically understanding the concepts.Allocated and finished testlet-1(35minutes),testlet-2(35minutes),testlet-3(35minutes),simulation-1(35minutes), and simulation-2(35minutes), i finished each and every testlet question, and all the simulation tabs, within the allocated time.I clicked on done with 1 minute to go.

So i did finish the exam.i had time to review each test let before exhausting the 35 minutes i had allocated for each testlet or simulation, basically going back and checking the qns and answers , before moving to the next tab.

For the simulations i was starting with the written communication , then back to the other tabs and lastly the research tab .

Hope this helps in overall time management and acing the exam, i gave it my best short.

Thanks! That definitely helps 🙂 Because although I already took one section, that section was BEC so I've never had any experience with simulations and everyone usually has enough time on BEC anyway.

150hrs just for REG? That's crazy talk. I had maybe 30 hours in for BEC. 50 tops for AUD. No way in he!! I'm going 150 on REG. I'm not sure I could even find that amount of time.

KC that is what i'm thinking too. I am taking AUD on Saturday and only studied 60-70 hours. I didn't even study 150 for FAR, so I definitely don't think I need that many hours for REG.

When u guys say 50 hrs are you counting the lecture hours? cause that alone takes from 4-5 hours per chapter!

Guys its not being crazy the fact i studied 150 hours on REG, i was basically doing as many questions as i can , so please do not dispute it, we are all different, but i think it did help me in a way because most of the staff i got on the exam i amassed during the 150 hour study, and i do not regret it.i was putting in an average of 3hours a day for a straight 45 days, so guys you do the math.

dont worry CPA at last, i studied for a whole month from 5-8 hours a day too! (including lectures)

if I dont feel like I know and understand everything i wont be confident on exam day and that could hurt my score, better safe than sorry! 😀

That's what am talking about, its all about self-satisfaction, i have worked hard for this, and will always look back , it was not given to me on a silver plate, had to work for it.

i agree with you guys. i put in probably around 200 for FAR and a little less for AUD, but still way over 100 hours. I put it probably 6-7 hours per day and it consumed my life, but I would much rather put in the time for each one time, rather than half as much and end up failing, only to probably spend even more time studying for the exam again. unfortunately, i know people in my classes that have had that happen to them over the past couple of months. i am in the middle of studying for REG and know that I will have to probably put in that many hours again, especially because i find tax to be more difficult and my level of focus is starting to drop. better now i think than spending the warm, sunny days of summer studying. even if i do end up failing, i at least want to be able to go into the test thinking that i have done everything i can to give myself the best shot of passing. it's costly to have to continue retaking sections, so that is some motivation too.
