jeffKeymasterThis is for people taking their exams in the April/May 2010 testing window.
Recommended prep time for REG is 5-6 weeks @ 20 hours a week.

AnonymousInactiveCPASchoolDropout: I had exactly same experience. I wonder if you really do well in MCQ, is there still a requirement to have certain minimum score in SIM to pass, more than your required score total of 75? For example, let's say that 65+10=75 is enough to pass but 68+7=75 is not ok since you got only 7 in SIM which does not meet some minimum required score for SIM, which we are not aware of?
Jeff, is there anything like this you know of? Thanks!

AnonymousInactivecpaschooldroput i am sure we had same exam. the 2nd sim i think was not well covered by becker but i believe it was covered by yaeger . one atb and one wc was not covered by any of the reviews but if u did really well on the mc u will pass. many people have passed based mainly on th emc bcos they carry more weight…….so not to worry untill u actually see yr scores although i am very worried myself bcos of the tabthat was not reviewed and the other wc.

AnonymousInactiveIs anyone else constantly creeping the NASBA-Twitter site in hopes that REG might have somehow been the first exam to release?
It's a vain hope but I've been waiting since April 3 and this could have been my final exam! I think I can wait one more week (if I have to). Otherwise I'm going to go insane.

AnonymousInactiveI I could bet I would put a lot of money on cpaschooldropout passin hid exam. I am pretty sure that there is no mininum threshold for sim grade in order to pass. I personally though the sim weren't hard at all (maybe a bad). On the other hand, I never even heard of the topic for sims I got when I took FAR n consequently didn't do them …n that resulted in an 89.

AnonymousInactiveI think I got the same sim…I was astounded as I had practiced the REG sims in Becker several times but what I got was unbelievable. The written coms though were something I felt the real world might require and felt real good about those. The rest of the test….ugh! I left the test room and went and threw up. I'm only 1/3 of the way through Becker FAR to test on 7/24 and I'm sure this will be another sickening day.

ZaaraParticipantI am really dreading score release as I felt like crying after I left prometric. I felt like I didn't know accounting at all when I was taking that test…..Completed the first sim but the second sim was partially completed (by partially I mean just the Communication section). I am so not looking forward to this score release as I am scheduled to take BEC on 5/24.

AnonymousInactiveZaara and dhuffman,
I TOTALLY understand. I was bitter when I left prometric… I didn't throw up (although I might have felt better if I had).
I can't stop thinking about my REG score. It's like I've gotta know my score. If we're in wave 1, we should have our scores the end of next week :s I'm also testing on 5/24, but I'll be taking AUD. Dread…

FARbehindParticipantZaara, try not to check your score until you come back from your exam. Keep focused on your upcoming exam not on the past one. This strategy worked well with me last time. When I came back from my exam I found a passing score but had it be fail and had I checked it before my exam this would have been devastating to me. The fact that I didn' t focus on the past exam kept me calm and ready for the upcoming exam. Try it if you can. I don't think I will do it this time since I'd have to wait a lot (my exam is on May 29) but if your exam is soon after release it is worth waiting.

AnonymousInactivepls how do i check for my scores? i am so scared of finding out bcos although i find reg not that bad i think i may have bombed the 1st testlet bcos i was nervous and blanked out so i feel frustrated that i may need to retake now something i could have easily passed!! what a joke and a waste of time and money!!!
always best to get it right the first time!!
also everybody expects me to pass easily and they are all waiting for my scores along with me which adds to the pressure. woooo………..i'm praying i don't disappoint!!

suzzette1ParticipantI took Regulation exam today and the test just like all the others said is very tough! The written communications in both the simulations are the least topic you would expect because they were barely covered by Wiley nor Becker.
The testlet seems getting harder after finishing the first one. Good Luck to all waiting for their results in Wave 1.
BEC 2/8/10 - 75 (studied hard & prayed less)
REG 5/15/10 - 88 (studied less but prayed hard)
AUDITING 8/9/10 - 79 (studied hard and prayed hard)
FAR 11/30/10 - 79 (studied hard and prayed hard) Thanks GOD! I'm DONEMay 16, 2010 at 4:54 am #237686
AnonymousInactiveTook REG today…way too many/too much in just 3 hours…I was aware of it so managed my time accordingly…previously when I took it in last window (without studying Law R-4 to R-7 Becker – as I already paid for my NTS in advance)..I didn't even closed the first sim i.e. never entered into second sim..anyways..Today I spent 30min for the first testlet.. 40/45 min for the second one (was lot time consuming..people call it harder..it's not harder but u have to spent more time to get the right answer)..third was ok (finished it in under 30 min (there were lot of theory MCQ's in this last one..so managed to get it under 30 min)///entered into first sim with approx/ 1 hr and 25 min…did the comm/memo first..u should never ever prepare for the comm tab as what u will get on communication is like expect the unexpected..i learned this from AUD and FAR…anyways spend 25/27 min on the first memo and finished the rest tabs with 30/35 minutes remaining for the second sim..again did the memo/..didn't write too much as time was running out..managed to do all other tabs except the research tab…I prepared a lot..a lot for this last exam…knew my becker book inside out with each and every page..spend last 4 days just reading the whole book again…some people do MCQ's but I do MCQ's in the begining and never attempt a single MCQ in the last 4/5 days..except the ones which are in Becker book( 20/25 after each chapter)….This one just as FAR is not easy stuff…but still,,,know the stuff inside out and you'll win…

AnonymousInactivesuzzette1…it's normal to get such communications…u will hardly find a comm…in any review book…at least good news is that what I found on REG is related to REG…I mean on my FAR exam( I took it twice and in both of them one sim communication tab was not related to FAR..on one it was on topic covered in BEC and on another covered in TAX)
