I took REG yesterday and I don't know what to think of. I think I did really well in all three MCQ's, but the simulations were something else. The first one was kind of smaller and the second required more time. I ran out of time in the second one. I think the law area had less questions than I was expecting overall. And surprisingly, in both tax and law, some important area had no questions at all but than there were similar questions from same topic. Weird.

Anyone knows if you have to score some minimum score in simulation to pass the overall exam? Let’s say I scored 64 out of 70 in MCQ's, do I need only 11 out of 30 in simulations to pass (75), or is there a minimum requirement? Jeff, may be you would know. This being the last part for me…..can't wait it to be over!

wow if u scored 64 out of 70 u must have passed bcos i heard that mcs carry much more weight.

pls everybody else did u get sims that were literally untouched by any of the review programmes.???? i was shocked to get some of those?? how fair is that?? this are even topics nor yet in use as we speak?? unfair.

I took this exam on 4/1/2010, and I still have to wait until 5/20. OMG how long I'm kind of desperate. Studying for FARE

cpa-exam.org has a practice thing…you have to download it, though.

    liny,

I feel your pain. I took REG on 4/3 and have been anxious for my score ever since. This is my last section and I've completely done away with my study habits. I don't know if I'll be able to get back into study mode after this long break.

Two more weeks until we find out…hopefully.

Is there any chance that the NASBA's power outage will affect the release dates?

    Allen A,

according to tweets from NASBA, they said the power outage should not affect the score release.

    Elsie,

Checking your scores depends on what state you are from. If you live in a NASBA state, you'll need to check their website. If you are from an independent state, you'll have to check your individual state's website. But you won't be able to check your scores until AICPA releases the scores to NASBA, which, according to Jeff's estimates, should be in about 2 weeks.

As far as your having a new simulation, you really can't know right now! So I don't know why you think you definitely had a new one:) Hopefully we both did not, as I'd much rather get my score sooner than later. I won't be able to focus on taking my AUD exam when I'm still worried about REG being released, if my exam is pushed to wave 2. Are you starting to study for another section yet or are you waiting to hear back on your REG score first?

bakagal, my advice is to not check your grade before you take your next exam end of May. This is what I did last time. I knew my grade is out but I didn't check it before I came back from my next exam. It kept me focused on the current study and exam. Besides, how knowing your grade will help you for AUD study? I will try not to check my exam this time before I come back from FAR on May 29.

yeah i don't know y ppl are obsessed with checking their grade. i am even too nervous to check mine. i dont want any distractions for FAR. i am sure i got a new sim bcos one of the topics is not even been implemented or taught in the review programmes. also how do u know which mc questions r newly tested? i didn't notice anything out of the ordinary for the mcs, except more advanced questions on topics that are already difficult.

I wish I could wait until after I take AUD, but the reality is that I won't–because I'm just way too curious!! There is no way that I'll be able to refrain from visiting my state's website once I know scores are out. Also, here's how it'll help me to know my score: if I pass, it's a confidence-booster. If I don't pass, it'll give me that extra push I need to motivate me to do major cramming before the exam. Because, I'm sad to say, I've become so bored of studying that I've started slacking in study-time quality. Also, since REG was the first time I had simulations and written communications, I need to see if I was effective in those parts or whether I should spend time trying to improve there.

As far as having new sims go, it seems as though we all had the sims from way out there. And if that were the case, do you really think we all had new sims and that we would all need to wait till wave 2 release? It doesn't seem so likely to me that they would test the majority of REG candidates during wave 1 with a new sim cuz then they won't have anyone to release scores to. It's not like they release the minority of scores during wave 1-they usually release the majority and a minority gets pushed to wave 2. So if we're all in the same boat, hopefully we'll all be in wave 1!!! (lol, just me hoping to high heavens that I won't have to wait till June)

I agree with bakagal 100%; it's tough for me to focus on the next section's material while I'm waiting for a score from a different section. There's no way on earth I could refrain from checking my grade when I know scores have been released. And I totally agree that checking your score beforehand is a win/win; if you passed, you feel good about yourself, and if you failed, it gives you extra motivation to focus and pass the one you're about to take. I'm totally with you on that one.

im taking the exam 5/18 in glendale, ca and was wondering if anyone had insight to the sims and the heavily weighted areas. i scoured the thread and noticed some advice to review ethics, transactions in property, corp tax, basis and FMV, AMT. did i miss anything? i know the sims usually stay pretty similar in the same testing time frame — help?
