REG Chp 4 (Becker) as scary as it looks?

Hey guys, I’m taking REG in about 3 weeks… I’ve finished up the first 3 chapters in Becker and am planning on outlining and going over the other four chapters the next two weeks (leaving me one week for a final review).

Anyhow, its been going good so far and I feel like the information isn’t too tough yet, however, I just got done looking over the Chapter 4 outline (132 pages) and the MCQ test-bank on my computer (close to 400 quesitons). Needless to say, this chapter looks like its a beast. I think for now I’m actually going to skip it and do chapters 5-7 first and come and do chapter 4 last so it’s fresh in my head before I take the exam.

For the REG vets out there, any opinion(s) on which chapter(s) are the toughest? And is Chapter 4 really as big of a beast as it seems?

there's a ton of ancillary material that I recommend you know. Yeah this chapter is pretty long and contains tons of info but its not too bad, I have more trouble with chapter 1 šŸ™

    BEC- 80
    REG- 68, 71, July

don't have that much patient to ready the ch4.it just too much information, my strategy might be reading it over in my bed time, and use the gleim to practice the MQ~~it covers this section~~plus i don't think passmaster is good for Reg~i used it last time and failed~

I think ch 4 should be broken out into 2 separate chapters. The second half, business law part, is not that bad! Don't let it get to you. The second half was the easiest part of the book for me šŸ™‚

    BEC - 65 (4/10), 83 (8/10)
    AUD - 64 (10/10), 73 (2/11), 93 (8/11)
    REG - 47 (7/09), 80 (10/11)
    FAR - 84 (11/11) Texas. I'm done!!!

In my opinion Becker doesn't really cover Corp & Pship very well. As others noted, the second half of the chapter on business structure is very straightforward. Those should be easy points, so make sure you are comfortable with the material. As far as the tax part of that section, i believe it's another very important section and was a beast for me because it was new to me. I guess it just depends on your previous experience with the topic.

Since I'm retaking REG, I ordered the REG cram by Roger and really noticed a difference in his approach to taxation of business entities. I hope that translates into a higher score for me!

    BEC: 75 11/8/10
    AUD: 89 2/22/11
    FAR: 78 5/17/11
    REG: 72, 83 10/17/11
    DONE!!!!

That Ch.4 would have been much better if it was broken into two parts, because it seems so scary….not because of the information, but because how long it is.

Trust me, it's not as bad as it looks. Break it in two parts, and you'll get it!! DO NOT skip the ancillary stuff, it'll be so important on the exam day! Also, don't overlook R5-R7. Yes it's only about 20% of the test, but it's easy points and def. get those!!

I actually enjoyed chapter 4, but I'm a tax person. The most difficult chapter for me was R6- yuck. I disliked that chapter so much that I put it off until the very end and I only could make myself do 75% of the mcqs (I did all of the other mcqs atleast twice). I would be careful about putting off chapters that you aren't that interested in or that seem difficult, like I did with r6 bc unfortunately, the material will still be there in the end. Good luck studying!

I def agree with Whenindoubt. I didn't feel super-prepared with partnerships from Becker.
