So I know this has been posted before but can’t find any recent feedback – how do you feel about using the Becker Final exams as prep? After averaging 80-90s in the HW I just averaged a 57(!!!!!!!) in the first final exam. I have one week to go and not working at least so have time to brush up on a few things but any motivation would be great.

Also, I’m using the Becker 2012 materials – most say they haven’t had a problem with this but anyone else feel differently?

I'm surprised that you averaged a 57 if you were getting 80's-90's on the homeworks, but it's not as bad as you think. For AUD, BEC, and FAR I thought that the MC on the actual test were easier than the Becker final exam MC, so I'm guessing it's the same for REG.

I can't say anything about using the 2012 edition because I have the 2013, so I'm not sure how much of a difference there is between the two.

A week is a long amount of time. Just buckle down and review the lectures that caused you the most trouble. I've heard that the SIMS only come from R1-4, so I would know those for sure. Just study as much as you can and take the test and you might be surprised. I was averaging in the low-mid 60's on the MC test lets for the Becker practice tests for AUD and I passed somehow.

I would focus on the area's that you scored lower in.

Sounds like you have a good short term memory, and not so good of long-term memory. Try reviewing your notes, or NINJA notes, then retake the Becker and see how you do.

To be fair when I was doing progress tests I felt like I kept getting tested on similar topics (and a lot of the same questions actually, which is annoying) and ones I knew well, whereas the final exam really forced me to understand a couple of problem areas. After I ate two chocolate bars and took a walk I reviewed the exam and was surprised how helpful it actually was and now I know those topics will stick since they slapped me in my face. I also knew I had problem areas before and this forces me to push through them again. I think have enough time but taking tests also isn't my forte – I get anxious and mess up on little things so I hope I get more sleep than I have been lately.

That average was only for the MCQ – I did fairly well on the SIMs (sorry I'm on my work computer now so don't have exact breakdown). It was mid 50s, 57, low 60s for the MCQ.

I really need to crack down on AMT!

I'm planning to do the second exam on Thursday and a Gleim exam on Saturday so hopefully I can regain some confidence.
