    Need some clarification regarding Alimony.

I SAW THIS IN WILEY———-For divorces finalized before 2019, alimony is taxed to the recipient and the payor is granted a deduction (“for AGI”). If a divorce is settled after 2018, alimony is not taxed to the recipient and the payor is not granted a deduction (“for AGI”).

THEN I SAW THIS IN NINJA———-Divorce prior to December 31, 2018—–TAXABLE
Divorce after December 31, 2018———NOT TAXABLE

What clarification are you looking for? Is Wiley's wording and use of years causing confusion?

When I read those statements, to me, they are essentially saying the same thing.

Yea, the Wiley wording threw me off. My head registered December 2019 instead of January 2019.

The real answer to the Alimony question.

You fake your own death. Pay a few hundred for some new id's and move to Alaska to work on a fishing boat. You'll never have to pay Alimony again or be taxed. 😬
