    Hi everyone,

With the exam day coming up i’m getting really nervous on what to expect on the REG exam. From previous experience with my last two exams, I found that the actual exam questions ( the MCQ to be specific) were much easier than the review course questions. For those that have taken the Reg section, how do you compare the actual exam with the review ( without going to details)? Are the questions as specific and tricky as the review course, or are they more straightforward?

I’m using Becker and I’m finding myself struggling a lot with the MCQs. I also purchased Wiley for extra practice. I’m feeling overwhealemd with the amount of material and the tiny tiny details that need to be remembered in order to get the right answer.

    Thanks!

You can do it, onmyway17!!! Every time I feel like not studying, I think about how bad it would suck to have to wait till July to retake.

onmyway17, CPAMommy gave me a great idea that I am using for REG since there are so many exceptions, thresholds, etc. to memorize. I am making a 1 page note sheet that includes only the tiny details I have trouble remembering. I read through the note sheet once a day and also will use it as last minute review for the morning before my exam.

Thanks again, NYC. I think I will probably spend at least one whole weekend on SIMS then. I think I have about reached my quota on doing MCQs (ha ha). I have probably done about 3500-4000 MCQs between Fast Forward Academy, CPAReviewForFree, Wiley, and Ninja. I also will spend some time on the Ninja flashcards. I got them when Jeff was running one of the $1 specials. How is AUD coming?

I took half of REG (exam site went down in the middle of the test, so I had to reschedule) and I found the questions to be similar to Becker and NINJA MCQs. To me, they didn't seem as detailed as Becker. I can't comment on the SIMs cause I didn't make it that far before my computer crashed, but I heard MCQs are similar but SIMs are harder.

Sweating over limits is a waste of valuable study time, btw. The only thresholds I'd learn are the housing (250k), casualty, etc. Like Becker says, if you get a phase out question, you'll most likely only get one so not knowing phaseouts aren't going to be the reason you fail.

    Passed all sections.

@lindrobe, I just read how many different practice sources you used. Are they all up to date or are there errors? I need more practice, but I thought I saw differences between Becker and ninja vs wiley, so I panicked and stopped using wiley to avoid confusing myself.

Also, how are you tackling business law? Just doing MCQs or are you reviewing notes? I feel like notes aren't getting me anywhere, but I don't know it doing just MCQs is enough.

@Kls238. I consider Fast Forward Academy as my primary study source. I have their 2013 hard copy texts, online text, and access to their MCW test bank, SIMS, and practice exams. They are not widely known, but I have had no problem with typos, errors, etc. in any of their products.

The CPAForFree MCQs tend to be more difficult for sure than what is on the actual exam, but I don't think it hurts to go through them once since they are free.

This is the only exam I have used the Ninja MCQs for. I like them a lot and there are not errors, typos, etc. A very good value for the money. I think Jeff charges $45 per section. I also picked up the Ninja flashcards during one of the $1 specials and I don't spend a whole lot of time on them, but kind of just cruise through them to make sure I haven't missed anything.

The Wiley MCQs are a different story. Since Wiley changed it's platform a couple months ago, they still don't have the bugs, errors, typos worked out totally.

There is quit a bit of overlap in the MCQs I have seen from FF Academy, Wiley, and Ninja. If I were to only choose one as a supplement, I would choose Ninja MCQs for sure.

I hope that helps, but feel free to let me know if you have more questions!

Also, for business law, I have read the text and took short notes just on weak areas. I have done a ton of MCQs and will review the Ninja flashcards.

I'm doing mostly all MC for Blaw. Finding that's the only way to really learn and apply the concepts. They can be super detailed.

    REG - 82
    AUD - 97
    BEC - 81
    FAR - 84
    DONE!
