I am putting 20+ hours into REG lectures and homework, simulations a week, but when I do homework (first try) I always get 40%-59%…Second try 50%-60%…..it improves (THE QUESTIONS ARE THE SAME). Taking the live review course with Becker. When I watch the lectures the whole concept make sense, but my homework scores is scaring the hell out of me. What am I doing wrong? Should I keep doing the homework until the concept or the questions get stuck in my head? I am taking REG in FEB……….What percentage on homework is sufficient for me to fell comfortable that I am ready to take on this exam? HELP 🙁

I'm in the same boat as you, except doing the self study option. One or two things that might help that I have started in the last few days:

    1. On the problems you missed, take a sheet of paper and write down the explanations for why you got each of them wrong. Try them again later in the day to reinforce the point.

    2. I just bought the Wiley Test Bank yesterday. It's great to have additional MCQ's so you don't run into the problem of memorizing the answers on Becker (it's hard not to).

Hopefully those help. Rewriting notes that you take on the chapters might help reinforce points as well.

Best of luck! Just know that you're not alone with the REG struggles. I'm right there with ya.

    FAR - (8/2012) 87
    BEC - (11/2012) 86
    REG - 73 (retake July 2013)
    AUD - 71 (retake April 2013)

jking12, note taking is a very good idea. Next time I miss a question, I will definitely take a note on the explanation and memorize the correct method to solve that problem next time. OMG..there is so much to memorize, I sometime feel my brain will explode. I really want to knock the REG section on my first try, so I don't have to deal with craziness of memorizing again. Good luck with your exam on the 30th, if you encounter any new method or that you know of acing the REG please don't hesitate to share. Thank you.

@lion_cpa, REG is the beast, of all beasts. A couple of things I did differently x3 of REG takes was: 1. Take really good notes during the lectures. Just my personal opinion, this could very well work for you, but, I found taking notes on each MCQ, made me memorize how to do that actual MCQ and not the concept or theory of the question. 2. Read the ancillary several times, if you have the 2011 Becker book. I think the 2012 Becker book made that ancillary material into “chapter 8.” 3. Buy the Wiley test bank. That made all the difference in the world for me. I was very confident during the actual exam because I thought Wiley prepared me very very well. Master Becker's review first, before dominating the Wiley MCQ. Doing those three things bumped my score 20 points. If you're taking REG in February you have plenty of time!! Good luck!!

Oh, and I also re-wrote my notes. This REALLY helped drill all of those nitty gritty concepts. Note taking/re-writing really only helped me with FAR and REG… Not so much for AUD :/

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
    FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
    BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58
