Just like you, I didn't grow up in the US so my background of US laws and regulations is not that strong. You better equip yourself first with basic US laws, business structures, and ethics before you start studying for US taxes. That way, you will know what's being mentioned how and when to tax who, what, where, and when.

Plymuff-Yaeger and Wiley will not cut it for REG. Or, they will at least not cut it for someone who didn't go to a good accounting school in the US. Don't get me wrong, they work great for every other section (it's what I used for every exam but my 3rd try at REG). Just look at my scores below-my last exam was the 3rd try at REG and I used the Ninja 10 point combo. It's worth every penny! If you're not already familiar with US tax, Yaeger's simply not enough-go with the Ninja and you're good!!
