This is my first CPA exam i am going to take and its scheduled for May 27th

I am using Yaeger CPA review. I just finished Module 35 individual taxation and i still have Module 36,37,38,39 to go over before i start my final review. Those 4 modules i have left have about 16 videos so thats 16 hrs of just watching lectures. I feel like i will need 25 hrs before i start my final review and i think ill have about 4 days to do my final review (good thing is i wont have to work for those 3/4 days).

I havent done many MCQ’s at all yet and i am not feeling too good about the material but i am still thinking i should take the exam. If i take the exam on 27th and if i fail ill have the month of June to do a proper overall study session and i can take the exam early in July and most likely pass. This will also give me a chance to see what the exam is like so i know what to expect next time i take it.

If i reschedule the test i can still only reschedule for July and i still have to pay $35 rescheduling fee.

Is there any reason i should consider rescheduling the exam. How much does it cost to retake the exam.. is it more then $35. My NTS expires 8/11/2014.

When you're this close to the end of a testing window, I don't think there's a lot of benefit to rescheduling unless 1) you're absolutely sure you're not ready (as in, you haven't finished the majority of the material) or 2) money is really tight and paying for a new NTS for the next testing windows would be too much of a financial burden.

In your case, I would take the REG exam. I mean, even if you fail, then you get a report telling you what to study for next time and a good feel for what the test is like. If you pass, then — hey, that's a lot of REG you don't have to study in the summer.

Retesting fees vary by state, but I would guess it's around $200-$300 in most places. I know in Ohio, it's either $172 or $192 to re-take the section plus a $70 registration fee. Ouch.

    FAR: May 1st, 2014 - 91
    AUD: May 29th, 2014 - 97!
    BEC: July 16th, 2014 - 91
    REG: August 29th, 2014 - 88

At this point I would probably ditch the videos and just start knocking out as many mcq's as possible. Read all the answer explanations including why each answer is right and why the wrong answers are wrong because there is so much info in there that you will not get in watching the videos or reading the book.

If you do continue to watch the videos you should download vlc media player (which is free) because it will let you change the speed of the video and you can get through them much quicker. With Phil in the Yaeger videos this will really help because it doesn't speed it up so fast that you miss anything but it's fast enough that you can shave off some time there.

@bnrhilton i decided that i will have all the lectures done by Sunday. i will watch 16 hrs of video starting right now, highlight everything phill is talking about and starting monday the 19th i will read over the highlighted areas and start doing MCQ's .

It also helps that i will be off from work on Saturday , Sunday , and that Monday (memorial day). I also talked to my manager and she said i can study at work in my down time and we are not busy currently.

Do you think thats a good plan?

You can do it! I would definitely spend as much time as you can working on mcq's though once you are done with videos. I found that I learned more by doing that and by reading all the answer explanations. Whether you are using a test bank or the questions in the wiley book ( I used both). I did questions until I was sick of them but they are representative of what you will see on the exams and like I said before there is so much great info in those explanations that help you understand better. You can work similar questions and see the answers explained in different ways that helps to make it stick.

Even if you don't feel ready on exam day I would still go take it. Sure if you fail you have to pay exam fees again BUT you get the experience of the exam and what it is like under your belt. These exams are not to be taken lightly (trust me, it took me 15 tries so I know what I am talking about, lol) and every exam is different.

Good luck to you, just keep at it and you will succeed.
