Pretty sure I just bombed Reg.

Took Reg for the first time today. Using Becker, I studied for about 7 weeks and did a great review the last 1 1/2 weeks. After the test, I came away feeling very unprepared. 3 of the 6 simulations involved topics that Becker only dedicated about 2 paragraphs to in the book. I did all mcq’s and final exams and the simulations in the software and made up flash cards (which I never do). I felt confident walking into Prometric today. Seriously considering to continue to study for Reg for the rest of the testing window and take it again in September but I think I’ll use the Wiley Test Bank.

Has anyone taken this since July 1? Was this ridiculously hard or just me?

My scoring report showed that I bombed SIMS and I still manage to pass REG with 75. I would continue with other part of the exam and wait until you see your result. GL!

    REG - 75 May11
    BEC - 73 July11 84 Oct11

STA: I am in the same boat as you although I do have a background in tax, I still studied the material as hard as anyone. The worst part for me was that I had two rough simulations that I really think belonged on the FAR exam and had I taken that first I would have nailed them. Such is life and now we have to sweat for a few months. My advice, start studying for the next one! I took REG on Saturday and started to study for FAR Sunday morning.

You just never know. I have felt terrible coming out of all of my exams and passed some of them. Also, the scoring is so screwy it isn't worth fretting over that either. I know it's easier said than done, but I hope you can just be happy it is over for now.

    AUD - 82 Becker
    BEC - 75 Becker
    REG - 71, 82 Becker
    FAR - 66,61,71,74,70 and #6 80!!!! FINALLY DONE!!! 9/20/12
Yaeger and Yaeger CRAM for the final battle!

If only you knew, your experience is the same as about 95% of people who sit for REG(just browse the forum and you will find dozens of posts just like yours). The good news is—-40-50% of those people end up passing….and well, you know the bad news. Either way, like someone suggested its best to just put it past you until that score arrives(easier said than done). I felt terrible after Reg but spent a nice 4 weeks relaxing and enjoying life. I was glad I did when I received my failing score, can't imagine being stressed for weeks and then receiving a failing score on top of that—no use stressing over a score for weeks(or in your case months), it won't change the outcome either way. If you still have exams to take—I suggest you move onto the next one cause you won't be getting a score until mid to late September, you can already be prepared to sit for a new section by then if you just move onto the next exam. Just my 2 cents, hope it helps!

    @smalltimeauditor:

I am sorry to hear about your experience…I don't think very many people walked out of their REG exams feeling awesome this year…

I suggest moving on if you have other parts to take…One thing I noticed in your post, you mentioned you hoped to study and retake it in September, but remember that September is not a testing month and you aren't able to retake it until you have your score (not in the same testing window…). You may just be surprised by your score. I know I was by both of my scores so far…

    Best of luck!

    BEC: 79 - April 2011
    FAR: 78 - May 2011
    AUD: 81 - May 2012
    REG: 79 - October 2012
    Ethics: Passed - March 2013
    I am finally DONE!

Dude, REG destroys everyone. I have only encountered a few who said it wasn't that bad and they failed. They pull topics from out of nowhere. Ask questions on the most minute subjects. REG was by far the worst exam I had

    FAR-81
    BEC-84
    AUD-91
    REG-89

I was 75% sure I failed REG (same issues you mentioned… sims seemed like they came out of nowhere), and 100% sure I failed FAR when leaving the testing center.

I had seen people on this forum say that you shouldn't try to guess your score… but I guess I just couldn't believe it until I saw it for myself. The two highest scores I got were on the two sections that I thought I failed.

Unless you went into the exam totally unprepared, didn't study, etc, I would either move on to a new section or take a break for a while before starting a new section. Since it's early in the testing period and you're not going to be getting your score for some time, I'd start a new section so you don't drive yourself crazy.

    BEC - 83 (8/31/2010)
    FAR - 85 (11/30/2010)
    AUD - 82 (2/27/2011)
    REG - 87 (5/31/2011)
