So this morning I found out I failed Reg with a 70. I use Becker. I am looking for any and all advice on a retake. How long should I study? should I supplement with other material? what can I do differently this time?

Biggest advice, follow the AICPA blueprint. I passed with an 87 and I used the blueprint as a guide. Make sure you understand every SIM on the blueprint and practice with Gleim. I love Gleim test bank for SIMS.

I used Ninja Monthly for the MCQs after getting a 74 in FAR. I just passed on the retake after doing endless of MCQs. I would deff recommend Ninja

I also used Becker. I passed with only a couple more points above 75. Honestly I struggled with how Becker presented and organized the materials. I think it is important to get things organized in your head.. If you can identify any areas of weakness, I recommend you look up this forum – There are many smart people here who left great summaries of concepts that usually take up several modules in Becker. My weakness was differentiating types of organizations and how they treat contributions and distributions of assets. There was a great summary I found on this website which helped me save time.
I also think REG kind of depends on luck – you just never know which area will be heavily tested on your exam. Since you got 70, next time you should be able to pass if you just keep reviewing and keep it fresh in your head. Good luck!!

I'm right there with you on REG…it's my last section and just scored a 72. We can do this.

Me to I scored a 72 as well. Reading others post I appears a lot of 70's. Regulations must have had a high past percentage in Q2.

Becker + Ninja hands down. First REG attempt I only utilized Becker and scored a 73; supplemented this with Ninja MCQ for my retake and passed with a 79.

It's all about the MCQ's! Do EVERY question in Ninja. You can make sure to hit every question by doing “custom” and “new questions only”

Roger lectures/MCQs/Audio + Ninja MCQs/Audio. I adopted what helped me pass FAR the 2nd time around, which was to take my own notes for each lecture. It was definitely time consuming, but worth all the effort! For the 10 weeks I spent studying for REG, I studied whenever I can. I did utilize the audio lectures a bit for topics that I struggled with. However, I feel that the note-taking (and obviously practicing as many MCQ's as possible) was what helped me pass!

I went through all of Roger's MCQ's 2x over, but barely half of Ninja's MCQ's. Barely covered TBS's but, after my experience with the REG exam, practice TBS's!

In the same boat here and of course disappointed, my last section was REG and scored a 73. Also using just Becker, I did every single MCQ and all SIMs. I feel a little lost on how to go back and start over.

Well I'm in starting with Module 1-6 in Becker. Pray I survive boredom.

My advise would be to do all of the MCQ in whatever review course you use. I had a lot of friends who would watch the lectures, but skip out on the MC because they didn't have enough time, etc. They felt like they had a solid grasp on the material, but a week later would be lost because they never solidified that knowledge by testing themselves. Drill the progress tests as you review to hone in on areas you are weak on.

In my opinion, Sims are really only useful to give you a grasp of the format you can expect, or for areas you are really weak in. I studied only Becker, and felt it was comprehensive enough to do fine on the exam. But you might buy NINJA as cheap as it is for a good supplement after you've worked through all the Becker questions.

***Again these are just my opinion, everyone has a different strategy that works best for them.

Thanks Chandler. I feel I need to at least read the chapters before I dive into the mcq's. But Points taken. 🙂

I used becker and failed reg with a 73. My strategy for attempt #2: restudied all becker material, and mixed in some ninja mcq and sims in no particular order (I just did random questions everyday… kinda simulates what the actual exam will be like). Scored 86 after doing that. Good luck, you will get through it. I know its a terrible feeling to fail, but I promise one day you will look back and be so proud of what you had to go through to achieve your goal.

I also use Becker and just failed with a 73. For all sections, once I got through the material I would do random progress tests over and over so my questions were always mixed. When you said you restudied all Becker material – can you elaborate? Did you reread all chapters? Watch the lectures again?
