    Becker and Wiley is the way to go!! Becker is good for bus law, ethics, bankruptcy, etc. Wiley is great for tax and has geat practice Sims. Studied for two months, spent 1 hour on the multiple choice, 2 hours on the Sims, used the research tabs a good deal, and dominated! I am now done forever: AUD 76, FAR 77, BEC 76, REG 86! AAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I studied 2.5 hours Mon – Thurs, 4 Sat and 4 Sun for 2 months. I read the book and did lectures (lectures give you good notes and highlight important areas). Once you master the basic stuff, go back and re-read and try and retain as many obscure tax topics as you can. Study Wiley sims and the one in Becker that has 25 scenarios that require basis, gain/loss calcs, etc.

    Nice work Dufala—I remember exchanging a few posts with you last score release and you were determined to get this thing done. Hopefully I am in the same boat as you, either way, Congrats!

    I watched all the Becker videos for REG, I can't tell you how many times I heard Tim's voice in my head while I was taking the exam. They are defiantly worth watching.

    Aud 11/23/2010 - 82
    Far 8/26/2010 - 76
    Bec 12/15/2010 - 73,82
    Reg 8/17/2011 - 58, 68, 71 85

    @ Dufala

    Becker did you purchase the entire deal? How about Wiley? Did you just buy the text book?

    To Baked, thanks! Congrats as it looks like you passed as well!

    For Becker, I purchased the entire package, except the note cards and the final review. I did all the lectures, read all the chapters, did all of the questions twice at least, and then did a butt load of Wiley questions. I purchased the Wiley online test bank for like $80 and it was unbelievably necessary!

    @Dufala: Congrats on passing!! Can you post a link from where you bought Wiley test bank? I'm looking to buy it for REG & AUD. I don't want the book, I just want bunch of MCQ & SIMS. Please!! Thanks!

    @Dufala:

    Congrats! I belive I been in the same boat as you, but still hasn't pass Reg. You said that u used Becker and Wiley to pass? Well I have Becker, and I haven't used any other material or review course (I give a in-detail info of my not so galmorous history with Reg in the Fail again??? post). My issues when taking the test had always been in the SIMs (always having a weaker performance) and the ethics part, other than that I always score good in the MC's. I would like to know what exactly from Wiley is that u bought. Is it just MC's and SIMS? Or do u get the whole section to study? In any case I would like to know how to study for Reg again, and what do I need to buy? And do i still need to used my Becker review or can i just used Wiley, or whatever other recommendation you may give?

    For Wiley, I bought the online testbank for like $70 that includes over 3,000 mc questions and 20 or 25 sims. I went through all the Becker questions again at least twice, re-read the chapters, and did the final exams. I focused really hard on grasping the concepts, rather than blowing through multiple choice questions over and over. Wiley really helped me understand the topics at hand. The questions are more difficult than Becker and the sims are very helpful. Specifically, I learned so much more about 1231, 1245, 1250 assets, AE&P, contributions and distributions inside and out of the various entities, estate and gift tax, and AMT, all topics that I feel Becker covers fairly well, but could use some work. Ethics are covered pretty well by Becker. I would re-read Becker including the ancillary material for ethics especially. I also took notes on topics that as I was reading were not sinking in as I felt necessary. I was literally at the point where I was answering basis, cap gains, M-1, and AMT questions within 30 seconds (I over studied, trust me!).

    For the sims, remember to allow yourself enough time for research. I gave myself 2 hours and used the research tab on at least 2 sims. Remember that the examiners are going to give you simulations that you have never seen before, at least one or two at the minimum. They want you to research. Good luck. It can be beaten, believe me!

    Yes there is no question that the research tabs are vital during simulations. I've taken two AUD and REG thus far.

    And as far as AUD goes, I used the research tab for a simulation, and the research tab provided the answers word for word. I guaruntee that I got 100% on that simulation in AUD, and I ended up with a 76. So in all liklihood, the research tab is the difference between pass and fail.

    Conclusion: Research tab=good.
