I just took a pre test and reviewed it. Made some pretty careless mistakes that could have moved my grade from a 66 to the seventies. My practice exams are in line with where I was before taking FAR. Does anyone have any Final 40 hours of studying tips? Thanks

I took REG and passed it. My last week (actually 2 weeks) before the test I took practice exam after practice exam. I probably took about 40 practice exams in the week or so before the test. cpareviewforfree dot com website was the most accurate for my test, and those questions are actually pretty crazy hard, at least compared to my becker and wiley software I used.

The other thing I did, prior to 1 week before the test, but also during, is to print off many of the IRS forms and become familiar with them. If you have access to simulation software, use it and try to hit 1 type of each form if possible. If you haven't done this already, it won't be possible to fit that into the last week, but hopefully you have done that.

But I would recommend testing from as many different sources as you have access to…all of them present problems in a different way, and that's how I think you can be best prepared.

@hawkmante, you said you're in the last 40 hours prior to the exam? Personally, 2 days before the exam I bang out as many MCQs as possible, focusing on weak areas. The day before the exam I don't do any MCQs I just read all of my notes I have taken and “try” to relax. Good luck!

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
    FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
    BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58

I agree with Peanut. I am scheduled for REG this week and I have been seriously hitting the MCQs. I like to do them per topic in groups of 20-25. I try to make at least an 80, if not, I do the section again until I get it. Day before the exam — I do a simulated exam in the morning, read over my notes during the day, and then take the night off and relax. Go to bed early, and wake up refreshed and ready to kick some butt!

(PS — I made some silly mistakes on the final exam too, don't worry. I totally screwed up the sims because on a lot of the forms I put deductions in as negatives when you're not supposed to. (I think it's only losses that you put in as negatives, unless it says otherwise.) Just pay attention and I think we'll be fine.

    REG -- October 3!!
    FAR -- Pass
    BEC -- Pass
    AUD -- Pass
