I just took FAR 8/30. I am halfway done, and have REG left. My intention was to take REG early November if I pass, but I didnt not I want to tak both in Q4. I know alot of REG conflicts with FAR, so I am hesitant to start studying REG without knowing if I passed. I am in Oregon, so I likely will not see my score until the 3rd week in September. This cuts out 3 weeks of potential study time. I am not sure if I should wait, or go ahead with REG. I was even thinking maybe just the BLaw parts would be better to tackle… I am very unsure about how I did. The exam was ridiculous hard. Any advice? I am SO ready to be done…

You were very close to passing for both REG and FAR so I think 4 weeks to review REG should be enough. Then I would actually move REG to early October then if needed, take the month of October to study for FAR then take that during November.

I think this whole “REG conflicts with FAR” or “Dont take REG and FAR in the same window” or “REG and FAR have different rules” thing is blown WAY out of proportion. As long as you know how things are recorded for GAAP purposes and what is and is not allowable on a tax return, you should be fine. In fact, if you review both either simultaneously or one after the other, I think you will even have a better understanding of the differences. Again, this exam isn't and shouldn't be about memorization. It should be able understanding the material. It is not like there are a billion different M-1 adjustments. It should not be too difficult to understand GAAP and to understand how and what is different for tax purposes.

I think you should keep moving forward with REG and just take it when you are ready. If you have to tackle FAR again, then tackle it after REG. It is not a big deal.

Thanks for the advice 🙂 I hate to stop studying ~ messes up the rhythm… Now I just hope I get good news in a couple of weeks 🙂
