Beginning in 2013, I believe the new threshold for allowable medical/dental deductions is now 10%. Fine, I am assuming then beginning in January, the questions on the exam will reflect the change?

This is a broken record thread that seems to find it's way to the forum from time to time…

Honestly, I wouldn't pay too much attention to it. There have been other updates as well (i.e. Gift tax exclusion moving to $14,000 from $13,000, Phase out increases on IRA contribution deductions, etc.). It's highly unlikely that examiners will update questions in order to keep up with amounts that are constantly changing. The questions I've run across, without going into any kind of detail, usually state – “without regard to the/ignorning the deduction allowance, phase out, etc…how much should be recognized as qualified medical expenses, etc.?”

For 2013, the medical expense limitation is 10% of AGI for those under the age of 65. If 65 or older, the limitation remains 7.5% until Dec. 31, 2016.
