MACRS – Straight Line Depreciation

Can someone explain to me how you calculate depreciation for Real Property? The study materials say you apply MACRS S/L – midmonth convention. I don’t understand what is different between normal SL depreciation and MACRS SL depreciation. Do I need a MACRS table to calculate each year’s depreciation amount or can I simply calculate?

    Thanks.

It's just regular straightline. MACRS straightline only defines the asset life and the convention. Midmonth means you take a half month of depreciation for the month the asset is placed in service.
