    Where does one start…

    Yet again I was bamboozled by the CPA exam. I don’t understand how and why they believe that an all concept test it good for CPA candidate. If I had to guess my score I would say 69. I mean I just can’t understand this… It is as if when you get scanned they are actually scanning you compile your weak areas to ensure that is what you will be tested on. I bet 100% that folks would have KILLED!! I mean KILLED to get my SIMS. They were as straight forward as they come only problem is it was on areas that I did not study or Becker has one line of information ( I looked it up). And folks say research! my question is research what! I mean I search and search and found nothing. But I think my SIMS were so straight forward it was like you should know this. So anywho I am moving on to BEC and anticipating a good ole retake in Jan! I know I know I said this about FAR but know this test was a mess!

    FAR 76
    REG 76(2x)
    BEC FAILED (2x)
    AUD FAILED (2x)

    REG is a beast. I miss my research too, and still passed. The research question LITERALLY was from outer space..

    @Peanut,

    Congratulations on passing REG! Was there anything you did differently studying REG for the 3rd time that helped you pass? I am studying for my 3rd attempt after a 72 and a 71. My approach is to focus on note-taking and redoing all the MCQs. Any advice is appreciated!

    AUD 84
    BEC 75
    REG 72, 71, 72, 83
    FAR 57, 77

    @justwant75, Yes I did do a few things differently, I pretty much needed to start from scratch-as you can see from my hideous scores. I re-watched all of the Becker lectures, pausing frequently to take intense notes. I did this for all 7 of the lectures before hitting any MCQ. Then I would hit the MCQs in Becker hard. I only went through the Becker MCQ once, I had previously been studying with Becker, so I was pretty comfortable with all of their MCQs. I purchased Wiley test bank, which prepared me tremendously for the actual exam, I actually felt pretty confident during the MCQs on the actual exam. During my final review I re-wrote all of my intense notes I had taken, it made such a huge difference, there are a lot of little details in REG and re-writing my notes really tattooed those details on my brain. If you're using Becker, I also read the ancillary 3 times (ethics portion in chapter 4) This also helped me a lot, all 3 REG exams I took tested very heavy on those materials. Good luck!! REG is a mega beast. Hey, any tips for AUD 😀 Taking in tomorrow and I'm a little nervous that I am not fully prepared!

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
    FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67

    For AUD, I memorized the reports issued for different opinions and what goes where in which report During final review I reviewed all my flash cards with mnemonics, internal controls for key processes, and the MCQs I missed in Wiley. On test day, writing down the mnemonics as soon as I sat down helped tremendously. Compared to all the details and exceptions to know for REG, AUD was more theoretical. Good luck to you!
