This is my third exam and it’s more than likely going to be my first retake.

Observations

The first testlet was uncomplicated and didn’t cover anything unexpect.

Second testlet was a repeat of the first so I probably didn’t do very well on the uncomplicated.

Third seemed slightly more difficult but not by much.

SIMS were all manageable except one and again it was on information that as a CPA, I feel that you should know.

So overall, I believe that my version of the test was very doable but my choice to spend much of my time on the harder topics did not pay off since I must have missed several of the easier items which I glossed over during the review thus did not get to the harder questions :/

So my advice for anyone taking this exam is to not spend time in the minucia at the expense of making sure you know ALL the rules that pertain to all major topics. Of course this is common sense but I think that sometimes we get so bogged down in the details that we sometimes forget the big picture.

Yeah agreed, took it today too and think its 50/50 on a retake. Was frustrating I knew taxes pretty well and all BLaw very well. I was consistently getting mid to high 80 %s in my Wiley and CPA for free MCQs quizzes, for questions I hadnt seen before BUT I did skim over the Accountant responsibility and IRS cir 230 stuff/didnt get many Wiley questions on it and well, it bit me.

SMS were fine, weren't “left field”, all Tax but very specific on a few topics I didnt dive deep enough into

Being the first exam Ive taken and having not taken an exam in over a decade it went fine, there just were too many Qs were I went…”Really?” this is testing my grasp of the concepts? Oh well is what it is. Hope everyone here did well!
