Last exam anxiety and burnout setting in, who else is in the same boat?

I can’t tell if I am any more anxious for my last REG exam simply because it is my last exam or the material seems overwhelming. It does not help with the peanut gallery of friends and family who think that three down on the first attempt equals an automatic pass this time. When I say that I’m really nervous they almost laugh and say that there is no way I could fail. It doesn’t help when I am a tax guy to begin with. Oh well, heres to grinding out these last 10 days with REG.

I feel you. I know people wish well, everyone says you'll be fine, best of luck, etc. It's great but at the same time if I fail it will be devastating. Anyhow, on the prior test I was able to keep it to a small circle of people, but this time I had to clue in people at work, some friends (one friend going through a very tough break up and I was MIA). I'm very nervous for Wednesday. I suppose it's not the end of the world if I have to retake it but I only have one more window before AUD expires.

Hang in there and good luck.

BTW, I'm also in tax but what I do at work is so different that it didn't exactly help me on the test other than overall concepts and terminology (I don't do compliance).

I am with you! These last few weeks are crushing me. I want this to be done bad. 5/29 is hopefully the last time I have to look at this stuff.

I don't know about you but when I walk out of FAR on that day, I'm acting like I passed. I will have nothing more to study until I hear the results so ignorance is bliss. I'm going to enjoy myself until the 2nd week of June and act like I'm done and deal with the score when it comes.

Good luck and let's hope for a fantastic June!

    BEC - 5/2012 - 91
    AUD - 8/2012 - 89
    REG - 1/2013 - 90
    FAR - 5/2013 - 88

Good luck everyone! It is definitely nerve wracking to just have one exam left. And I think we've all been there with family and friends telling us not to worry when they have no idea how hard the exam is. But just keep thinking about how amazing it will feel when you get the last passing grade. When I was taking FAR for the last time I just kept visualizing myself passing it and I think it really helped with my confidence.

    REG- 74, 83

Same here. So ready to be done. It's exciting and terrifying. Exciting that you can see the light at the end of the tunnel…terrifying in that I will be devastated if I don't pass and have to go back to studying. I am taking FAR for the 4th time…if I don't pass this time I will have one more try before my scores start expiring.

I'm trying to put the idea of a score expiring out of my head because it shakes my confidence. Hang in there! Many people don't make it this far…

All the support is great. If there is an uncomfortable place to be in this exam this might be the best position for all of us! Lets finish the testing window out strong and breath a sigh of relief. Then allow the nailbiting wait to begin!!

You guys can do this! The last one was the toughest for me. Use the fact that you never want to study for it again as a little extra motivation to finish strong. I'll be looking forward to seeing a lot of posts in the “I'm done” thread!

    Good Luck! Finish Strong!

Ugh. Contrary to my signature I'm taking BEC on May 22nd. I started studying last week, but I have never felt more confident in any material but I am facing extreme burnout as I have my college finals to deal with. I am staying optimistic as I can see Peter Olinto at the end of the golden tunnel in his “drop top convertible Bentley.”

I'm in the same boat as you all as well. I just took my last section this morning, and I think the dark circles under my eyes are scaring my coworkers away! Good luck to all of you! Good vibes! Good Vibes!

@et all, Good luck to all of you guys, wish it was true for me! Your last push and done forever, wishing all passing, don't stress out, do your best and rest the case!

    @Onmyway82

Totally agree. Visualization part during the exam is extremely helpful.

Lately, I also found visualizing of a reward after all sections are passed had been great to encourage daily studying and remind of why it needs to be conquered. Yes, there are other far more important reasons for the CPA but for me being a burned out with the studying + other increased responsibilities/family related events, the only things that work well lately are of a shallow nature like, pass CPA = go to vacation or pass CPA = get membership at a better gym and get new phone but only after passing. That's how bad it got! But whatever works, works. Back to studying :0

I haven't thought about any rewards… that's a good idea! I just want to be done studying forever. I am graduating college next week and I hope to be done with tests for the foreseeable future! I still am waiting on FAR and have to take BEC next Wednesday so that could potentially put a damper on that plan, but as of right now thats the reward I am visualizing!

I'm with you. I'm totally distracted by what I'm going to do with my life after passing REG. My motivation level has dropped by about 50% since passing AUD. Trying to pound away at MCQs and review my notes.

I'm in the exact same boat. I take REG on 05/31 and managed to pass the other 3 sections on my first try.

I was studying Like-Kind Exchanges the other day, and my brain nearly exploded. I'm so sick of studying for this exam and I was overcome with a rage so great, that I was mad enough to punch a baby in the face. Fortunately, there were no babies in the vicinity.

But seriously, I hope I am able to soak enough of this information to pass REG. I'm a little worried . . . but at the end of the day, you just have to do your best and go into the exam confident that you've done you're best and that it's enough to slay the dragon.
