Knock out REG in 4 weeks?

I was wondering if it’s too crazy of a plan to knock out REG in 4 weeks? I have nothing else going on during this time (no school, no job) and it’s my last section so I’m really antsy to just be done with it. I think I can reasonably study 6 hours on week days and 4 hours on weekends.

Give me your honest opinion! Thanks!

That's what I am planning to do in August. I'm giving myself about 29 days and I won't have anything going on either. Just make sure your studying time is quality time! Good luck!

    Hey, great question.

I took REG back in January…began studying January 3rd and took the exam January 30th. If you see my score below you can tell I didn't pass (barely). I'm being completely transparent when I tell you this, but it was probably the most painful and most exhaustive month of my life. I was in college (just graduated) and our “Jan Term” was going on, so I chose not to take a class during that time. I was playing college baseball as well. We had practice at 6am every day, then I would study from about 10am-1pm, then have lunch and hang out till about 3pm then go study until about 9pm then crash and do it all over again. All told, I think I studied around 170 hours for the exam.

One regret I have is that I didn't have very long to review everything. I finished the book (used Becker) and finished it with about 4 days left before my exam. Would have really liked to have more time to review things considering the depth of material in REG.

If I was in your chair, with 1 section to go, I would take it for sure. I took it in January because I had no classes going on and wanted to see what the exam was like, to be honest. As I said, it's going to be a rough month for you, but if you put in the hours every day and have a good review course, you should be fine.

    FAR - (8/2012) 87
    BEC - (11/2012) 86
    REG - 73 (retake July 2013)
    AUD - 71 (retake April 2013)

Looks like you are used to having a pretty quick turnaround from your other tests. I would say you can do it. I found REG to be the most challenging out of three I have taken so far, and barely squeaked by after about 4 weeks of studying. But I was able to do BEC and AUD both on about 3 weeks. If you feel like your focus is still strong, you should be fine. Good luck!

    AUD-April 2012-CPAExcel only-86
    BEC-April 2012-CPAExcel w/ additional practice questions from Becker-91
    REG-May 2012-Becker primarily w/ practice questions from CPAExcel-78
    FAR-July 2012-CPAExcel primarily w/ Becker supplements-81

There are a ton of factors to consider (study efficiency, memory, stamina, retention from undergrad, etc.). Judging by your other scores, you seem to study fairly well, so I doubt this will be a problem for you as long as you study hard. As you have nothing else going on, you can create an entire schedule around the exam (wake up, eat, study for 3 hrs, work out, eat, study for 3-5 hrs, done). Biggest question is your stamina and whether you can go for 6+ hours a day for 6 days a week. If you can, DO IT!! A month while doing nothing else is more time and 3 months while working.

    BEC 86 (08/30/11)
    FAR 84 (10/13/11)
    REG 88 (11/08/11)
    AUD 86 (11/29/11)

I did it in 20 days, so it is possible!

Yes, I did it in about 4 weeks. Taxation is my area of experience, though, so that helped. I studied 6 hours a day or more. There was nothing else going on – I had no classes, my oldest son took care of the younger ones, I spent time away from home studying.

    Hard, but doable.

    REG - 89
    BEC - 82
    FAR - 87
    AUD - 81

It's possible especially if you have a background in tax and law. I spent about 6 weeks studying for REG, working about 25 hours a week the whole time and none the last week. I devoted pretty much every waking hour to studying if I wasn't working. Had I not been working a 4 week schedule could have worked, in hindsight. I found REG to be more heavy on law than tax. that was disappointing to me to work harder than I did on any of the other exams in some ways.

I started studying for REG on 5/5 and took it on 5/31 and had about 11 days to review thoroughly. I passed. 🙂 You can do it. (I'm in your same shoes… No job, no school right now).

    REG (5/31/12) - 90
    FAR (7/12/12) - 85
    AUD (8/23/12) - 91
    BEC (10/13/12) - 85

Thank you so much for your input! I decided to do it in 5 weeks instead since I don't have a background in tax. Hopefully it works out okay. Good luck with your exams everyone!

hey everyone, I am in the same situation.(no job, no school etc.) Just took BEC 1st time and passed with 75. I feel like taking REG + AUD. I have 2012 Becker books, video lectures.

Any more tips to just pass two exams in one window. I am not trying to get 90s!..

    thanks

That can be done no problem. 4 Weeks is plenty of time.

So glad to see you are done CB. Maybe some people on here can't stand you because you sailed through this stuff, but I'm stocked to see that you got it done. Gives me some hope for my upcoming tests. Cheers!
