I just took REG. I completed the whole exam in 2 hours..

The MC for testlet #1 was pretty doable.

MC2 & 3 where not anywhere near hard. They where the same length (2-3 lines) as the first testlet. I am guessing I did pretty bad on all 3.

SIMS? I did all SIMS in 1 hour. I didn’t think they were hard, however, Becker BARELY touched on 3 of them. I know for sure I got the research question very fast. Another SIM was pretty easy. But the others? Total guesses 100%.

I am guessing I failed. My MC didn’t even get harder…. AHH

    futuremdcpa….

Your test taking strategy and time management was completely flawed…..If you are alloted 3 hours for the exam, you should have spent 35 minutes for each testlet, and the rest for simulations….What was the need to rush through this in 2 hours?

You could have researched the simulations in the authoritative literature tab and made sure you got the simulations correct. Instead of guessing them, you could have used the research tab.

I dont doubt your knowledge of regulation, Becker has enough resources for anyone to pass this on the 1st try, but this poor strategy, poor time management might cost you this exam….

Just because you finished early doesn't mean you failed. I finished both REG and AUD with over an hour to spare. FAR was down to the wire, but that's FAR for you.

    REG (2/24/12) - 89
    AUD (4/5/12) - 89
    FAR (5/31/12) - 91
    BEC (7/7/12) - 84

Not many calculations, it was more conceptual. I either knew it or I didn't. Even if I stared at the MCQ's for an extra 30 minutes, i wouldn't somehow recall anything more.

As for the SIMS, I did use the research tab, but 2 of the sims were just CRAZY.

Also, I had at least 2 SIMS on my REG exam that were completely out of left field. Did you use the authoritative literature to try and get to the answer?

    REG (2/24/12) - 89
    AUD (4/5/12) - 89
    FAR (5/31/12) - 91
    BEC (7/7/12) - 84

Thats cool….I am just rendering my opinion, doesnt mean you have failed it. People have done crazier things on the exam and still passed it…So there is always a chance and a hope….

Some people are efficient test takers, while others need to pace themselves. I'm definitely a more efficient test taker, and @futuremdcpa may be the same. It doesn't mean they were rushing through or that they used poor time management.

    REG (2/24/12) - 89
    AUD (4/5/12) - 89
    FAR (5/31/12) - 91
    BEC (7/7/12) - 84

I finished REG in 2.5 hours, so the time is not the issue and passed with a 89. In fact all the exams I passed were with about 45 minutes to spare. @ future keep in mind that the length of the question is not really a good indicator. I had a lot of short questions on my 2nd and 3rd testlet and I passed just fine. I also guessed on a couple of SIMs. Remember Becker teaches you with the hardest questions so sometimes it appears easier than it actually is.

@OP just because the question does not get longer (2-3 sentence) does not mean that the test is not getting harder. When i took FAR, my questions were very simple (to me at least, 2-3 sentence long, and I was getting so worried mid test because I thought the only reason I'm getting these question is because I mess up so badly.) but later I received my score and I actually scored stronger in all section of the MC. So just because your question is short does not mean your failing or doing poorly.

I took REG on July 3rd and my first testlet seemed average. Then the 2nd and 3rd were super difficult with questions that I had not seen in Becker. The SIMS were like everyone says, out of left field. I think I for sure failed this exam but will see if I actually did when the scores come out.

    REG - Pass
    BEC - Pass

I had an almost identical REG experience on 7/2/12 as you did futuremdcpa except for I did use all 3 hours for the exam. I just felt like I really screwed up the 1st testlet and got really short questions on the 2nd and 3rd testlets. And it's not even a good thing because those short questions were testing me on the smallest details/topics that Becker had told me to read for HW or skipped over. I regret not reading the book over at least once because I felt like those some of those “either you know it or you don't” M/C questions were definitely easy if I actually paid attention to them during my review lol. I didn't get a bunch of questions that covered difficult concepts/subjects in Becker that I focused on to master. Sims I did not even prepare for since I was told pounding M/C questions would prepare me them as well if I knew the subjects well enough. Probably got 50-60% of the MC and 50% of the Sims. Anyone ever felt this way and passed? I'm pretty depressed right now and studying for BEC for July 30th.

    FAR 4/30/12 - 86
    AUD 5/30/12 - 94
    REG 7/2/12 - 92
    BEC 7/31/12 - ?

Just because you finished early doesn't mean you failed. I finished BEC in a little over two hours and AUD I finished in 90 minutes. Neither of those tests did I feel like the questions ever got harder. Don't go off that. If you feel the 1st section was doable, then you probably did well. “Harder” is all relative, anyway. If you prepared well, you'll be rewarded. As far as the sims, I just had my first experience with them on AUD last month and I thought they were awful, vague, confusing, and the reason I was going to fail.

Well, I got a 91, so the lesson is, you really never know.

    BEC: (4/2012) 88
    AUD: (5/2012) 91
    REG: (8/2012) 82
    FAR: (1/2013) 78 🙂

Even if I stayed the extra hour that I had, I wouldn't of found anything else for 2 of the SIMS. It was the same topic which blew my mind. I am hoping one of them was a pretest! The third sim.. I knew the concept but the way they were giving me the information was driving me off the wall. I was about ready to throw my computer out the window.

My questions were extremely short.. I honestly had basic calculations. The whole exam was weird, it focused on 2-3 topics out of the whole REG course. If I focused on 2 of the chapters out of the 8, I would of done much much better. They tested me on about 25% of the material! My whole exam was basically just two chapters in Becker

I just feel really bad, I don't start work for another 2 months or so, and I have ZERO motivation after today 🙁

When I took FAR in May, the testlet didn't get harder either. I finished all MC in 2hrs. None of questions had more than 3 lines. However, I passed with a good score.

future, did you find you had a lot of b law questions? Sometimes if you're going through but have trouble with blaw that can really wreck your momentum.
