Just took the REG exam and am a little disappointed because a lot of the MCQs were not focused on tax, and I didn’t have many questions regarding complicated tax issues that I had studied and focused so hard on understanding 🙁

I also couldn’t find the answer to the research question which bummed me out, one SIM seemed similar to one I had for FAR. Is it possible to still pass if I completely missed the research question and just filled in blanks for one SIM?

Hard to say, but based on what I've seen on this board it might be, especially if the sim you “just filled in blanks for” is pre-test. I don't have my REG score yet, but for FAR I had a computer glitch which caused me to lose about 20 minutes. I had 2 research questions, one of which I assumed was pretest. Out of the other 5 there were 2 that were questionable… one I had a few things to fix the other was so screwed up it didn't even remotely resemble normal accounting.

I fully expected to fail as a result but still passed by wide margin. I don't get a score report breakdown since I passed and am in WA, but I do think I killed the MCQs. Also I'm sure I got both research questions correct and 3 out of the 5 sims.

Did you at least put something for the research? It isn't worth that many points anyway so I wouldn't worry too much.

As for the SIM, I would just say to wait for the results. Who knows, it could be pretest. I know I did one SIM totally wrong and I knew it at the exam. I also had trouble with another SIM. I thought I would fail. I ended up passing easily. After that experience, I learned to stay optimistic after the exam because I don't know for sure that I failed.

Yes I luckily entered something just so that I had a slightly better chance at getting points than nothing lol. The other SIMS were very reasonable though, to my surprise. Crossing my fingers for a pass!

Just took REG as well. I did not notice testlets getting more difficult, but we'll see on Tuesday. All the MCQs were covered in my review material, so I could not tell which were pretest, but I knew the answers to at least 80% of them. Finished all three testlets in one hour.

SIMS-nailed the Research in like 2 seconds, 100% sure on another one, and >=50% on all the others ones. I used the AL to its max and used up the entire two hours. Again, I could not tell which one was a pretest since I had covered the maerialt at some point of my study.

The last four days before the exam I worked MCQs and SIMS day and night, and hopefully that made the difference. Now, just praying for a 90+. Thank you my Lord for your guidance!

@CPAEms…keep you head up my bro/sis….First of all you never know with these exams even if you feel like you got 1/72 correct. And then the CPA exam is just a small part of life…don't stress about, but instead laugh about it….=] good luck!
