    I think I’m about to cry because I don’t know what is the right way to study for REG. I am pulling 68-73 in NINJA and I’m about 19 days away from my test. I don’t want to move it, because I’d rather take it now and retake it next quarter (in the event that I don’t pass). Even then, I DON’T want to take it next year AT ALL.

    This is my last test and I’m trying really hard to summon the will to study. I realize that I have to buckle up, but Roger’s software does not cover a lot of the details that NINJA tests me on. SIMs, I’m not too worried, I’m on track to finish all the SIMs in Roger and NINJA. Even when I get it wrong, I know I can take notes and improve on those. I plan to redo all the wrong SIMs once I finish. But MCQ has me so worried. I keep getting them wrong…

    These next days, I am able to study at WORK and after work, and I’m willing to put in the time to just CRANK this out so I never have to touch this book again. Can someone please give me some tips? How do I get over this hump? Should I do more questions (but then I’ll finish all the tax questions in NINJA)? Should I take notes more? I’ve been LITERALLY rewriting each tax chapter every single week to make sure that my memory’s fresh, and I have about 6 chapters left of BLaw, which I’ll finish by this week. What should I do? Sighs.

    Well I disagree with the above post and I think it displays a lack of appreciation for what the certification provides – you're a guardian of the financial system, a servant with responsibilities to the public and a professional…like a lawyer. It should be hard. It should be rigorous.

    It's not brain surgery, but neither is law.

    ^ not really. If that is so, the CPA should be designed to cater to the needs of the professionals. Its a big test with loads of broad information that many won't use. Ex) Auditor studying for tax. Vice versa. Its not a test designed to cater to accounting majors who wish to become CPAs. Its designed to keep a certain quota in place.

    I agree with Aaron, in Canada one becomes a Chartered Accountant. It is much more rigorous process than our American CPA . You have 2 chances to fail, and that’s not per subject. If you fail a third time you are banned from becoming a CA for life. We have it easy here – being able to fail as often as we like.

    hasy, I think everyone loses their mind about 2 weeks before their last exam. Like I mean go F%$#^&% mental, but trust me, the heavens are going to open, birds will sing and the little things that drove you nuts will put a smile to your face 1 second after you submit that final testlet. You are so close!

    And you think lawyers use theory in lost of their duties? Or that it isn't a barrier? Have you ever worked in a legal capacity?

    It's very simple – you have rigorous standards and certification because you have the authority to sign off on financial data, which is a rather large part of what thI exams test. Just like law. It is meant to be a difficult exam and barrier in part for numbers, but also because of the professional standards and authority regarding financials.

    It's not an MBA.

    Thank you everyone for your kinds words. I am T-3 days so I'm going to start reviewing business law but sighs… I just really don't want to take this test again…

    I was going to write a long post about study techniques, but I would just really recommend Ninja MCQ over and over.

    Also – chill. Drink a couple of beers before you start studying. Take breaks and talk to people or us on the forum. When I studied FAR and REG, I punched through walls, destroyed computers, and broke so many pens/pencils that I eventually just drank heavily before I studied so I would chill out. My scores weren't terrible (FAR 89, REG 90).

    All the best!

    @PleaseDontDeleteThanks

    There is somewhat of a dilemma in this. I actually have been trying to stay away from beer because I have psoraisis and alcohol (beer of all types) worsens it the most. The most I try to allow myself to drink is maybe a couple of glasses of wine. 😕 Sad life.

    Study basis calculations. Learn how to do it for corporations and partnerships, and make sure you know everything there is to know. This is an area that gets tricky, and if you know it, you will be able to pick up a lot of points on both MC's and Sims.

    @Ice Man

    Thank you for your input. I'm taking it in stride. But I have P/S down to the tee and Corps, just a little less. It is Business Law that I am freaking out on, bc I hear that there might be a SIM on it? 🙁 I've gone through all the BLaw chapters but Commercial Paper makes me want to shoot it.
