Is it Possible to do both Reg and Audit in the same test Window

    Hello,

I was wondering if anyone out there has ever attempted doing AUD and REG in the same test window.

I didn’t pass AUD in the last Test Window and so now I have to re-take it in Q3. I was planning to do it July 1st but with the CA board being very slow in giving a Approval notification that I am not sure if i will get any availability to sit that day. I may have to do it mid July.

I have got REG appointment set for Aug 31st.

Is it feasible to Study for REG in 6 weeks considering I do work full time?

Hope someone can advise please based on their experiences/similar situations?

FAR I will do in Q4 late Oct. For that I know its a lot of volume so I really hope not to have to do REG and FAR in the same test window.

    Thanks,

Here in KY, I sent my reexamination application form in the mail on Thursday , the next day (Friday) I got an email attached with the approved payment coupon. I am so impressed of KY SBOA!

Hopefully you'll get yours soon too (before 6/30). If I were you, I would focus on my preparation & stick to my planned schedule. I am sure you will be able to schedule your test on 7/1 or so. Candidates are changing their schedules/locations every day.

Absolutely you can do it. You don't want to spread out your exams too much. You'll study too long and forget most of your material before the time comes. If you are good at memorization and recognition, REG is a cake walk.

    ---------------
    REG - 83
    FAR - 81
    BEC - 7/1/13
    AUD - 8/31/13

    Thank you!

Yes i am still acting like i am going to sit the exam on July 1st. No idea what the CA board is doing as I read a lot of the CA candidates are in the same boat as me.

True Candidates keep changing the test days but what i have noticed for the Bay area the get taken up really fast. So If i am lucky its July 1st. If not, I have to wait till i close my ledgers for Month end then sit the exam.. Work won't give me a day off during the close to sit the exam πŸ™

I will start REG now just to at least listen to the lectures and get a feel for it and just keep practicing AUD until I get the NTS.

I certainly hope so. I'm doing AUD around July 15 and REG at the end of Aug. Good luck

Yes its completely possible if you go balls out and focus on this as much as you possibly can, with the mindset that failure is not an option. I would argue that this applies to any goal you can have, not just passing exams.

I passed all four exams in one window while working full-time. What I did was as follows:

1 – Evaluate yourself and how you learn best. For me, this was repetitive problem solving.

2 – After self evaluation, weed out what doesn't work. I decided to not read the review course books (Becker), but made it a point to study charts that summarized key information.

3 – Complete a risk assessment of the material to be tested. These exams are about getting 75 points, it doesn't matter where you get them. Decide what is is 70% likely to be tested and KNOW it, decide what is 50-70% likely to be tested, and have enough working knowledge of it to be somewhat confident on it, decide what is less than 50% likely to be covered and learn it ONLY if you can learn it quickly. If it's too time consuming and not likely to be covered, take a gamble and skip it.

4 – outline and prioritize the areas you will review from step 3 and apply the learning style you focus on in steps 1 and 2 to those key sections.

5 – review the crap out of your practice problems. read why the right answer was right and why the wrong answer was wrong. I got answers right on the real exam by remembering why a wrong answer was wrong while i was studying.

    Hope this helps.

i think so, if you spread them out enough. i did AUD on May 25th & am doing REG on July 1st. That's about 5 weeks. Since it's a retake i'm not giving myself as much time as normal. if it's your first time w/ REG, you can certainly do one at the beginning of the window and one at the very end. you're giving yourself 8 weeks to study for REG

    FAR - 1/26/2012 - PASSED (78, but Lost credit), re-do 11/27/2013 - PASSED (87)!
    AUD - EPIC FAIL, 71, 69; 68; 5/25/2013 - PASSED (85)!
    REG - 10/1/2012 - 72; 7/1/2013 - 73 UGH, 10/1/2013 - PASSED (85)!
    BEC - 2/28/2013 - PASSED (82)!
    Licensed CPA!

Used Becker self-study materials (just this for FAR original & REG #1), WileyTestBank, NINJA notes/audio, and Roger cram course for AUD #5, REG #3 & FAR reboot. CPA!
