For those of you who are using Becker for REG, is it helpful to go along with underlining and highlighting the textbook, or do you find that to be more of a distraction?

Put down the Highlighter! I used Becker the way they suggested and failed 1 out of 6 times.

Now, I use Wiley and am 2 out of 3. You need to take notes, read the book, and work the questions.

    CPA EXAM: DONE!!!!
    Ethics Course: Passed
    Application Mailed: 3/16/15
    Professional Conduct Exam: 97
    Certification Date: 4/2/15!!!

No. Drilling MCQs is a WHOLE lot more effective than highlighting or underlining. But it all comes down to how or what your preferred way of learning is. I passed the exam without highlighting, underlining, or taking notes. I hated all that.

Everybody is different, so just evaluate your best method of how you learn best. Good luck.

Haha, this is like page 1 of the Ninja Notes! Put the highlighter away! I've tried that technique and it does nothing for you.

    Highlighting is terrible. Take Notes.

Taking notes in your own words is better than highlighting as far as learning the material is concerned.

If you actually plan to look through your book more that two or three times highlighting can be a helpful review aid in helping you zero in on the key points. It really depends on whether or not you are more likely to review your notes as opposed to the book.

If you have ugly handwriting then highlighting your book is not a total waste of time assuming you will actually look at the highlighted material frequently.

Everyone is different. Some people notes are an eye soar. Some people will take notes and still spend most off their time with their head in the book. For those people highlighting might be beneficial.

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"
