Is is worth it to do simulated exams? I’m thinking of doing a couple of simulated exams just to condition myself for the 3-hour stretch (like how a runner conditions himself or herself for a marathon), and was wondering if people find it helpful or is it just a waste of time?

You will get better ROI on that 4 hours of time hitting 2 or 3 problem areas really hard prior to your exam.

I have to say it was awkward when I went into prometric with my laptop and started to do my practice exam…

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

@Shel_178, Thank you for the grade estimate! I am getting ready for my first test on 1/2 in AUD, so I took the two Becker practice tests. Mostly to get a feel for how to pace myself, but also to see new questions and work concepts in new ways. I scored in the 70s on the first and in the 60s on the second. I have to admit I was pretty upset when I got my first score. I have also spent time reworking all of the homework and getting 80-90% on it.

    AUD 83
    FAR 80
    REG 83
    BEC 81

I wanted to take the simulated exam prior to sitting for the auditing section but I eventually found myself without enough time to spare for it. I felt like it was much more important for me to cover all of the material and make sure that I had a good understanding of it (short practice exams and reviews) than to sit a computer answering questions for four hours.

If you have the time to take it, then surely do so. However, you should not fret if you do not get a chance to take it. Also, if you do take the simulated exam, you should take it at least a week or so before the actual exam. It does not make sense to take a simulated exam a day or two before, as you will not have time to thoroughly review anything that you missed anyway.

    IL Candidate

    AUD - 98 (11/11/13)
    BEC - 69 (4/19/14); 83 (7/21/14)
    FAR - 88 (11/26/14)
    REG - 90 (2/26/15)

    Ethics - 98 (3/9/15)
