InactiveIs is worth it to do simulated exams? I’m thinking of doing a couple of simulated exams just to condition myself for the 3-hour stretch (like how a runner conditions himself or herself for a marathon), and was wondering if people find it helpful or is it just a waste of time?

InactiveDoubtful that you will get a SIM on the actual exam that you studied for, but they can be helpful to get the overall concepts down. I wouldn't waste my time doing them in a simulated exam. They are good for review.
I just do practice sets in WTB until I feel comfortable. I failed my first practice exam for AUD, and it can really hurt your confidence. IMO confidence is much more important for these exams than practice exams. Just my .02

MemberI actually did a practice exam….
I didn't answer any questions, so the first 3 testlet's took about two minutes and that's including the optional break. I skimmed over the Sims and then selected exit. Overall it took me about 5 minutes and I did find it helpful. I didn't score that high though š
I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:
"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

MemberYeah, mla really drove the point home. The voodoo and black magic used to score the actual exam isn't applied to the practice exams. I did practice exams for a couple sections. I did the practice exams for my first AUD test and scored well and failed the actual exam. Next I did practice exams for REG. I scored such ridiculously poor scores that I thought there would be no way I'd pass, then I did. After that I stopped taking practice exams.

Member@Tough Kitty,
I am actually up to eight hours a day now. I don't think my brain can handle much more. Being unemployed gives me a lot of time for breaks to check this site and to watch your love with M.O.D. bloom š

MemberOh Study Monk – That made me have a good Laugh!!!
I think someone above said everyone is Different. Personally I liked to do a Practice Exam session not to see the score but to calm my nerves and also just get into that mind set that I have X amount of time to get the exam done. Also It helped me truly see which questions tripped me up and where I need to continue focusing on.
Everyone is different – I say do what work for you as you know yourself best.
FAR 05/27/14; 786/110 - Done !

ParticipantMan…I missed a party on this thread! š @Toughkitty tell your BF to lighten up a little!!! š
Practice exams are helpful for those who perpetually find themselves running out of time on exams…it's something you have to condition yourself for mentally if you are a slow test taker or if it's your first section. Review courses offer many different types of resources because we all learn differently. Practice exams may do wonders for some candidates and be totally useless to others. To say that a candidate is unprofessional because a specific learning tool doesn't benefit them is a little ridiculous for my taste. Who's to say what the most “professional” learning style is? I'd be curious to know what exactly is a “professional” learning style. Am I “unprofessional” because I study in my PJ's and not in a suit? Am I “unprofessional” because I grumble profanity at DEPS computations? š
