What is the difference between investment income, passive income, portfolio income, and passive investment income?
I’m really confused about these concepts.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Passive income – income you aren't directly working for (like if you owned a house and was renting it out – you aren't working hours to get that money)
Portfolio income – income resulting from paper investments like capital gains, dividend, and interest income that you might receive from ownership of stocks and bonds.

Honestly I'm not sure how investment income and passive investment income differ from portfolio. Generally there are 3 types of income, earned/passive/portfolio.

Are you using a review software and do they have a lesson on this?

Can you classify alimony into one of those three types of income you just mentioned?

I don't think alimony really fits, or needs to fit into one of those categories. As long as you know what constitutes it (eg not child support, not living together, not property settlements) and how it's treated on the tax return – taxable to the recipient, added to arrive at AGI. 🙂
