For those who have taken a 2011 Exam, How did your Simulations generally compare to the AICPA’s samples or Beckers (vs2011) practice exam Sims in terms of length, time, and difficulty?

Also how much time did you allocate for Sims, and would you make any modifications in retrospect?

I’m mainly trying to figure out if extra time earned via MC should be used on harder MC questions or saved for the Sims.

– I get that everyone’s different with time management and weaknesses, but when I passed REG in 09 I would allocate a lot less time to MC and close to 45/50 minutes per Sim since it was my “Weaker” area, and usually spent 10-15 per essay.

I found 2011 sims a littler harder than 2010, the wording and way of presenting the information was very different than what I used to study for the exam (Yaeger-Wiley book).I would say leave anywhere from 60-75 minutes for the sims. you never know what you're going to get.

other than that, everything else was pretty similiar to 2010

Multiple choice was pretty much the same rarely any of the new business structure. The simulations were tough more or less in the presentation. It was hard for me to understand what they wanted me to do in one of mine. The topics they chose were pretty rare to be simulations in my opinion at least on my exam I just took.

Mike12686, I agree with EVERYTHING you said about the SIMS. They were confusing. I literally said out loud, what the bleep is it that they want? The mix of questions were nothing like I expected or heard

Here are my 2 cents as far as time allocation…I went with approx. 40 minutes for the MCQ testlets and had a little over an hour when I got to the Sims…there are 6 tabs so I allocated myself approx. 10 minutes for each…I was able to finish each testlet and have a couple minutes to review questions I flagged in each testlet

Has anyone had a sim on business law topics? I heard it's fair game in 2011.

I did about thirty minutes for each MC Testlet so that left me plenty of time for the sims. So on the sims, I used the authoritative literature almost on every tbs and I could spend my time thoroughly researching each topic. So in other words, I would try to leave plenty of time for the sims.

I had about 35-40 minutes per testlet and 70 minutes for the sims
