I thought FAR was hard. No way. Working backwards in Becker and Have completed R8 – R6. Holy cow. Talk about minor details. I haven’t even hit tax and my head is spinning. FAR was much easier than this crap. Is this a CPA exam or a BAR exam?

You should work R5 now then you would be convinced this is the BAR exam. A lot of details and you have to use common sense to answer the questions.

I'm studying REG too, taking on 1/17/12. Oh the details!!!! There are sooooo many. Just when I think I have it down they throw in an exception or an exception to the exception to the exception. Good luck to you both. I feel your pain.

    AUD - PASSED - 84 -(11/21/11)
    REG - PASSED - 83 -(1/17/12)
    BEC - PASSED - 86 -(2/28/12)
    FAR - PASSED - 84 -(5/14/12)
    I AM DONE!!!!

Hang in there! I felt the exact same way when I was studying for REG. I hated every moment of the studies and the exam itself. Just try to keep in mind that it is only temporary misery and it'll be over before you know it.

    FAR 88 (07/15/11)
    BEC 83 (08/31/11)
    AUD 81 (10/15/11)
    REG 83 (11/26/11)

And as far as I can tell, every says to pound the MCQs…which I will. I started backwards cause the R1 was giving me a headache with all the tax information. Thought I would ease my way into it all by hitting all the concepts first. NOPE. I was wrong.

Great JJM now you're scaring me for REG! That's going to be my last test as well ugh. Now to only get through this BORING AUD!

I absolutely despise Regulation, honestly I have yet to see a review program that does a good job in covering it..

    FAR: 79, what im done??
    REG: 75
    AUD: 75
    BEC: 77

    I would rather score four 75's than three 99's and a 74

I still think FAR was harder.

FAR had too much tricky stuff, whereas REG is just a lot of detailed bs.

I'm studying with Wiley and just ripped the book into two pieces – taxation and everything else (too heavy to carry around). I'm studying both parts simultaneously. Finished individual taxation and am afraid to start corporate 😛

    What does R5 cover?

For me, Far and BEC, although tough, are in no comparison to me on REG and AUD. Audit being the one that is giving me the hardest time. Go figure, hardly any calculations, but for me, it is tough.

@spineshank77, NIU Correspondence does an awesome job of covering everything for REG. Even with my half-hearted studies, I managed to pull off an 81. They're actually awesome for all 4 sections.

    FAR 88 (07/15/11)
    BEC 83 (08/31/11)
    AUD 81 (10/15/11)
    REG 83 (11/26/11)

    FAR 88 (07/15/11)
    BEC 83 (08/31/11)
    AUD 81 (10/15/11)

I thought FAR was the hardest exam to date, and funny enough it's the exam I scored the highest on. I think that is because people start studying for FAR knowing its a beast so they put more effort into it. I got the Wiley book for BEC and it was like 1/4 the size of the Wiley book for FAR so I was like “piece of cake!” LOL I studied for it adequately but didn't put nearly as many hours into it as I did for FAR.

    @yankee

AUD was a very hard exam. But the material itself wasn't that hard to comprehend and it kept building on the same topic.

FAR was the one that kept unpleasantly surprising me while studying, but the actual exam wasn't that scary. I think it's the hardest because of its vastness.

From what I've heard from you guys, it looks like the REG exam is going to be one to remember, brrrrrrrrrr.

Keep in mind you don't need to remember all the threshold amounts, ranges etc. for tax – that eases a lot of pressure.

I think FAR was harder too, simply because there was far more material. While studying for REG was a little easier, the actual exam was a nightmare. I just knew I had to have failed – this was also the only exam where I did not finish – left one sim completely blank – couldn't even put zeroes in. However, scores were comparable for both (FAR – 86, REG – 84). It feels worse than it actually is.

Reg is difficult for some since it's not just a ton of calculations like far. Reg requires more repetition especially for those who are less familiar with legal jargon. Repeat questions and read carefully. That will get you through reg.

    BEC 86 (08/30/11)
    FAR 84 (10/13/11)
    REG 88 (11/08/11)
    AUD 86 (11/29/11)
