Nowadays, with google search engine, I can find almost anything in seconds, but with Becker Research question, I can’t. On the SIMs, I have gotten close to the correct answer, but never 100% correct.

How do you search for the answer? do you type full question or pick keywords, etc..

Hi Shay. I always use the “advance search” tool. I used the line where it says “search for words near each other” and I type in a couple of the key words there. I also type in the section where it asks “containing one or more of the following words.”

Using this method, I can usually find the research in less than 5-7 minutes.

    REG - 80 (Becker only)
    BEC - 76 (Becker only)
    AUD - 71, 76 (Becker only)
FAR - 65, 74, 81! (Becker, Wiley Test Bank, Ninja notes & Audio)

I usually just type the key words in the search bar. Find the general topic, and then just search through the subsections of the general topic until I find the answer. I'll either search through the subsections manually if they're not too long, or if they are long, use the “search within” function using key words again. I find the method much more effective than just continually clicking on search results because once you find the appropriate general topic the answer IS going to be in there somewhere.

I use phrase searching, which is putting quotation marks around a key word or phrase. It's a quick way to emulate the advance search option without having to read through all the advance search questions.

Example: An audit research question asks about interim reporting for a non issuer…

    Search: “interim” “reporting” “non issuer”

And the database will hi-light every time those words are used. Usually, it will place the sections in descending order where those words appear the most.

You can also type in a phrase, “Interim Reporting” and it will find every instance where the words Interim Reporting appear next to each other. I don't find this as useful, because the Authoritative Literature doesn't seem to place words like that directly next to each other.

Keywords, keywords, keywords. It's all about knowing what words to use in the search box. I actually wrote up a really good guide for doing research questions for sims on here some time ago, but I cannot seem to find it.

Anyhow, I just took REG today and had a personal best on the time it took me to find the answer (30-45 seconds). Too easy if you know what you're doing!!!

    AUD - 85
    FAR - 78 (lol@ FAR Sims)
    REG - 85
    BEC - August
