So I didn’t do well on REG. Got a 63. Any advice on how anyone here studied for success? My trending was a 75 so I knew that I was tempting fate when I did the exam.

Failed reg before and i retook and passed..this is what i did. Dont get discouraged regs a beast

    1) apply for a new nts right away. It took me a month to get mine so dont waste time!
    2) look at your score report. What were u weak in? Note those areas
    3) start over and study like its new. Take notes and do mcq. NAIL those weak areas. For me i was weak in entity taxation and property taxation. I studied those areas hard..did flashcards
4 them and reviewed continuously Practiced my becker mcq. TAKE PROGRESS TESTS (focusing on TAX). I know this may seem like a lot but it was much easier going through it a second time and u will pick up a lot more than the first time through.

For business law i watched lecture took notes did hw rewrote my notes during final review and redid hw. Do same for tax. I made little studyguides to do quick reviews. Ethics is major, having a study page of what i needed to know for ethics helped a lot.

I was working full time while doing this. I would wake up around 4:30 am head to the Starbucks by my work and study until i had to go to work. Took me around 5 weeks. Then i studied during my lunch hour sometimes and i always studied 2 or 3 hours after work.

With this plan it should get you through the second time! U got this 🙂

My advice on BEC is not to overlook COSO. Try to know it as thoroughly as possible.

    AUD - 96
    BEC - 88
    FAR - 88
    REG - TBS

I got 63 for my first try. I used Roger. For retake, I ordered Ninja MCQs and pounded out for a month. I studied like nali474 did (getting up early and studying at the local coffee house before work). It is all about discipline. Good luck!

    FAR 72,67,79 (Roger+Wiley test bank)11/15
    AUD 80 (Roger)10/15
    BEC 80 (Roger)4/16
    REG 63,78 (Roger+Ninja MCQs)5/16

nali, thanks for the advice. I applied for a NTS today and I believe I will try for it in February. I am looking over my score report and am consulting with my former tax professors. I think I just do not understand REG with the way Becker explains it, so I will also use my old class textbooks.

BEC is nothing out of the ordinary. I spent 5 weeks reading the book and doing Ninja MCQ. That test is less challenging because the SIMS are writing based, not math based or otherwise.

Yes this time I will try to do all the MCQ. Admittedly my trending was 75 so I knew I did not do my best. Weaker on MCQ and SIMS means that I just did not know enough last time, overall.
