How to Approach REG?

I recently started studying for REG using Becker. I am on R2, and so far it has just been a bunch of different facts all thrown together. There seems to be no flow to it, or no format helpful for learning. I know that is essentially how the Internal Revenue Code is set up, but this is only a little better. So I just want to ask for advice from everybody else going through this: what do you think is the best approach for learning REG? On other sections I did a lot of MCQs, so is that my best bet?
    Thanks!

I'm currently studying REG, with my exam tomorrow. For me, I found doing a lot of MCQs really helped bring all the information together. If MCQs helped you on prior sections, I am sure it will probably help with REG too. Good luck!

Doing tons of MCQ's is your best best. Although it may seem like there are a bunch of topics thrown together in a given chapter, remember that they all relate in somehow. So for example, if I recall correctly, REG 1 and 2 deal with Individual Tax only.
It's definitely important to get through the individual tax stuff but I will tell you that the corp stuff and BLAW are much more heavily tested.
What I personally did at first was read through the book in a relatively short period. I didnt focus on whether or not I knew every single detail but just wanted to get a general understanding of each topic. Then I went back and drilled into each section to really grasp the stuff I didn't understand. If it helps, make Flashcards for all the different phaseouts, fees, etc. Hope that helped. Good Luck!

I have a small suggestion. Before you go into Chapter 3, you could take a look at Chapter 8, Module 5 first. This module actually explains different business structures like Sole Proprietorship, C corp, S corp etc including definition, some basic rules. I wish I studied this module first!!!!

I think MCQ is always the answer. The questions put the information in the context needed to answer correctly on the exam. You passed 2 already, so I wouldn't reinvent the wheel. When I have moved onto whatever exam section is next at the time, I have always looked at it and said, “Oh well this information is completely different than X exam that I just passed, so it is going to require a completely different approach.” That never turns out to be true.

Do what's worked for you already.
