I’m having trouble finding the answers because it seems like my searches aren’t weeding out anything. For example I’ll search “medical deductions” and the only key word that shows up in the search results are just “deductions”.

What am I doing wrong here?

what program are you using to search? If you are using Wiley Test Bank or smth like that, it will only give you general idea of how to perform the search.

Go to AICPA and do the sample test. It has the exact search engine as you will get on the exam. It's also helpful to watch the tutorial because it explains how to use the search more efficient
