Ok, i am not from the States, i moved a year ago. I have degree in Accountingbut no job and people told me it will be easier for me to get a job if i am a CPA. I started studying and passed 2 section taking the 3rd one on the 30th. Here is my question. I thought i just need to pass 4 exams and get a CPA license. What is up with the ethics exam and the 2000hrs stuff. I live in WA state…………….please clarify for me how it works, because i am feeling like i am wasting my time studying if i dont get the title after passing the exams…………..

@helen2012cpa..best answer you can get is from AICPA offical website. (https://www.aicpa.org/BecomeACPA/Licensure/Requirements/Pages/default.aspx)

Usually you will need 150 Credits. (30 of these must be Accounting). Most states allow you to sit and take the exam, with just Accounting B.S degree. But if you WILL NOT BE licensed CPA, until you complete all requirements, which are:

    1) 150 College credits (30 Must be Accounting)

    2) 1 Year job experience in Accounting

    3) Pass all 4 sections of CPA exams

    AICPA Main website
