Health Insurance Premiums

Regarding deductible medical expenses in excess of the 7.5% of AGI, are health insurance premiums ALWAYS included as medical expenses? Or does this only apply if the premiums were NOT paid with tax-free dollars? I feel like every health insurance premium I’ve ever paid was not taxed. Can it also be claimed as a medical expense? I don’t see this addressed in Becker or Wiley, both of them just say that health insurance premiums are deductible medical expenses.

    Thanks, guys!

You cant double dip, its only premiums that were paid with after tax dollars. Most common case I run across is COBRA payments.

    REG- 81
    BEC- 72,76
    AUD- 67,88
    FAR- 78

    Done!

Thanks! I figured that was the answer, just couldn't find the clear-cut answer online and the books I have don't seem to address the difference.
