AnonymousInactiveI am just curious if I have to expect to see many changes from 2010 format to 2011… If there is anyone who already has taken the exam in 2011, could you please share your experience? Does 2010 Becker CPA review pretty much cover everything for the new format? any comments? your reply would be greatly appreciated.

AnonymousInactiveI agree….if i don't pass it is definitely because of the Sims…I am hoping you are right about throwing out some of them or passing a certain percentage of candidates.

Yep, this was my experience with one of the SIMS. Hindsight 20/20, I spent way too much time trying to figure out what they were looking for and should have just moved on. I got to the point where I ran out of time on the last SIM and left about half of it blank.
It's amazing how so many of us feel the same way about REG. I never had this feeling with AUD and BEC. There are still questions that I look back on and can't believe they were on the exam. I'm still practicing REG questions on a weekly basis because I realize there is a good chance that I failed. I can recall about 10 MCQ that I now know for sure that I got wrong, and leaving the last SIM half blank won't help much.

Same here as well. Took it this morning, still stunned.
However, my first testlet was easy, second was more difficult, third was impossible. Hoping this is a good sign!
Also, will everyone please keep specific details about the exam to themselves? It could be the difference between some of us making it and not making it.

AnonymousInactiveSeems a little late for the keep it to yourself warning seeing as the window is done in 6 days. Although i guess you didn't want to give the warning until right after you take your exam in order to gain as much as this edge you are purporting as you can….

AnonymousInactiveActually, I don't read these threads until after I take the exam. I've found that reading other peoples posts freak me out, which doesn't help me in my studies. I do, however, create my own threads when I don't have a good understanding of materials while studying.
I'm not trying to get feisty, just trying to 1- be fair and 2- honor the “do not disclose any information on the exams” rule, as we all should be.

HazeEastwoodParticipantWow, strange how so many responses about REG is the same. I can totally relate to the experience. Was the first test that I walked out of feeling like a complete failure. I just wasn't ready for all the little details that you read over but don't put much emphasis in.

herbert7890Participantcandren, from what I have seen on this thread, no one has breached the AICPA's disclosure. In this forum is all about helping each other (guidance and uplifting morale), not about being selfish and egocentric. As Drust1985 said, your timing for this comment seems a little suspicious (I might be wrong). I hope EVERYONE passes from this forum, it is like a family here, a team with the same objective of passing the CPA exam.

AnonymousInactiveHerbert7890– I hope everyone on here passes as well. We obviously all care a ton about the exam, since we're on a website asking for help and giving support!
As I said above, I didn't read this thread until today, because these strings freak me out. Upon reading it, something someone said about their exam was DEAD ON about my exam. If I had read it, I would've had about 5+ more questions answered correctly today, and done better on a simulation. I'm sorry, but that feeling is bound to strike a chord. Do I wish I had seen it before my exam? Absolutely. But do I wish much more than it hadn't been posted? You bet.
The push back I've received from you guys has surprised me very much. I love coming on this site, enjoy reading peoples journeys and relating to them, enjoy being able to ask questions. I am REALLY not trying to push buttons, just want the playing field level.

HazeEastwoodParticipantcandren, I understand what you're saying but at the same time I don't. The nature of these exams its hard to get an advantage unless you know specifically what's on the exam. I can say on a thread I wished I had put more emphasis on the details but it doesn't really matter because they won't know which details to cover. There are so many details on REG its impossible to know which ones to emphasis. I was told by the CPA review instructor to focus on a section that I got very little questions. I just don't see away to really get an advantage on these exams.

AnonymousInactiveHaze, I agree wholeheartedly. There were only about 5 billion pages of details I wish I had time to go over more thoroughly.
However, if someone comments that they had way more questions than they expected on a section that is about 8-10 pages in the study materials (in Becker, anyway), I'd be bound to look at that section again 🙂

AnonymousInactiveWhoa, whoa wait a second. you used becker?!?!?! they have been in this game for decades. they know what topics are bound to get tested and how they are tested and cater their materials toward it. thus, you are bound to have an advantage over somebody who doesn't use becker. can i tell you not to use the resources awarded to you (becker) to get an advantage over this exam, they took the entire 2010 tax code and compressed it to include only the details they feel has been on the test in the past. look jeff, already said he didnt see anything against the disclosure policy on the thread. thus you cant really fault us to use this as a resource.

AnonymousInactiveDrust.. “you cant really fault us to use this as a resource.” I'm not trying to fault you. I use the site too!
Anyway, we can discontinue this (which has gotten out of hand, in my opinion). I flagged the post and it has since been removed.
Back to the original point of the forum– good luck to everyone on their scores! I'm sure we'll all be back come mid-March to discuss 🙂
