I feel that I did okay on my simulations; however, I did not get my research question right bc I was scrambling for time. Has anyone ever passed while knowing that they did not get the research right?

    BEC 78 (11/28/2011); 71 (1/28/2010)
    AUD 75 (11/05/2010); 73 (11/23/2009)
    FAR 77 (08/08/2011; 70 (04/28/2011); 64 (02/28/2011)
    REG 77,(11/12/2011); 77 (10/31/2009) Expired

Oh I'm sure many people have passed without getting the research topic right! That is only one a tiny part of the exam!

    AUD - 83
    FAR - 78
    BEC - 76
    REG - 86 PTL!!!!!

Used CPAExcel & Wiley testbank (awesome by the way)

I'm sure you can still safely pass the exam and miss the research. The research tab only accounts for about 7 points while the other SIMs rack up 33. I think you're in a better position having done well on the simulations.

Do you have any advice/pointers for attacking REG? I'm sitting next week! (And am terrified)

    FAR 88 (07/15/11)
    BEC 83 (08/31/11)
    AUD 81 (10/15/11)
    REG 83 (11/26/11)

    Used NIU Correspondence CPA Review

Thank you for both of your insights. I really appreciate it.

@ KasiaS..This is my 2nd time taking REG. I took REG back in 2009 and passed; however, bc I was unable to pass FAR (2xs), I lost my credit. This last time that I took it, I felt that Becker was indicative of the exam. Unfortunately, I felt that none of the testlets got harder, which is scary bc that probably means that I didnt do “stronger” on the MCQs. However, from my last experience with FAR, I never got “harder/crazier (i.e. long questions)” MCQs on either of the testlets, and I still passed with a 77. I know that I did okay (as in I felt okay w 3 of the testlets) on the sims and for sure got the research, so maybe thats why i passed.

The simulations, I felt, we pretty straight forward, as long as you have a basic understanding of the material. In my opinion, the best way to tackle REG or any of these exams, is to ask yourself “Can i answer this topic, if they ask me this or if they ask me that”. Ask yourself if you really understand the material.

From looking at your scores, you will be all right. As for me, Im not a good test taker, so I believe you will be fine.

If every sim including the research was weighted evenly then 40/5 (1 sim is pretest) = 8 points per sim. Which would be horrifying considering that would only leave you a cushion of 17 points to pass..

I don't think the sims are weighted evenly. I know the MCQs are not. So If I had to make an educated guess the research is probably 5 points.

This is pure speculation and a little wishful thinking.
