Going downhill…

For some reason, the last couple weeks before I test, I feel like I start regressing. It started this weekend… I’m taking Reg on 11.22. I’ve been doing good with my studying, I’ve done all the wiley mc’s, I’ve re-wrote my ninja notes and I’ve done the Yaeger videos. I started the cram this weekend and am going back through the mc’s, but now I’m doing horribly. Before I was up to at least 80% on all my multiple choice, and now I’m at around 60%. Any suggestions?

When you took AUD and FAR, did this happen, and how did you end up doing?

First, don't let this get to you. It happens to people. It sounds like you did a lot of good prep, so I think you should just keep doing those mcqs. Read the explanations provided with the answers, and just keep going through the mcqs mcqs mcqs. I wasn't scoring so well either before my test, but the important thing is to just keep going, and do those mcqs!!!

Perhaps someone else here who has had more experience with this can give you more/other advice.

    Good luck!!

I usually get so stressed out before exams that I just shut down. When I finally passed BEC, I was making time for going to the gym. Even if it was just 30 minutes, I felt like my study time later in the evenings was more productive. It was a great stress relief. So many times I get into the exam and think “if I hadn't been freaking out the past two weeks, and just focused, I could have totally answered this question.”

    Keep at it! Good luck.

    FAR - 79 (2x)
    AUD - 81 (expired), 77!
    REG - 74! omg (3x) 87!!!!!!! I'm done! OMG!

It has happened at every test. I also usually end up sick the week of the test and not getting much study time in. I passed AUD with a 75. I've actually taken FAR twice since then (I'm a bad updater). The first time I made a 56 on about 3 weeks of studying and having to reschedule my test due to Prometric not calling to tell me their servers were down. I improved to a 69 in August. I know it's mainly just because I stress myself out, but I just can't seem to not do it.

Bummer. First I have to say that it doesn't really matter why this is happening, it sounds like stress and anxiety about the exam are at play here (ugh…this is my neighborhood, so I know the scoop!!!), I would just plow on through. Take a deep breath. Tell yourself you got this. Seriously. You have plenty of time, you have gone through the material, now go through your cram and final review and you will see things come together. I had this happen with REG this window. I was scoring in the 80's on the Becker supplemental, but by the time I came back to the final review I was scoring lowest on what I had been scoring the highest on. Just keep a stiff upper lip and rinse and repeat!!!

I have to make an effort to pump myself up, because I have let my nerves get the best of me when sitting for an exam. Since Audit is my last exam (crossing my fingers it REALLY is), I am working hard to keep my spirits up. I have a sign my friends' daughters made for me when I passed BEC and FAR. It says: 1/2 way to a CPA, Already a CBA (certified bad ass). I just moved this into my bedroom. My hubby isn't thrilled, but it is the first thing I see in the morning and the last thing I see. Visualizing the finish line baby!!!

You got this. You have done the work, so finish your review and go pass this thing! Best of luck.
